Our Organisation

War Child, an international humanitarian organization and the specialist charity for children affected by war across 14 conflict-affected countries, established local partnerships in Moldova, Romania, Hungary, and Ukraine in 2022 to address the challenges faced by children and caregivers affected by the full-scale war in Ukraine. As of 2024, War Child’s operations shifted entirely to Ukraine with the focus on child protection (CP) and mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) in implementing evidence-based interventions for the well-being of children and caregivers.

Your Challenge

Under the management of the Project Manager, the Project Assistant will assist in the oversee of the implementation of War Child Ukraine project(s) to ensure impact, quality program implementation and delivery. The role plays a key coordination role between project teams while managing donor-funded project(s) and working closely with local partners on implementing War Child’s evidence-based interventions & tools, and scaling.

This role will involve support capacity strengthening and working with partners on project’s compliance, monthly and quarterly budget and reporting processes, while also ensuring effective internal communication between the Ukraine Response team and project’s implementing partners. The position will be Ukraine-based, with expected travel to the project’s sites, subject to security considerations.

Your Responsibilities

  • Support Project Manager with establishing key project management tools, systems and processes and assist to compile high-quality and impact-oriented narrative and financial progress reports;
  • Participate in field-level activities, facilitating community dialog, and overseeing program activities on a daily basis;
  • Provide detailed updates to Project Manager, partners and stakeholders;
  • Ensure team members have resources they need to complete their assigned tasks on time and within their budget limits;
  • Handle administrative tasks delegated by the Project Manager and ensure a smooth flow of communication between all parties involved;
  • Support with project’s implementation coordination, monitoring and close out;
  • Liaise with the donor on all project-related correspondence and reporting.

Your Profile

  • Some experience in working in project management teams and project implementation in a humanitarian setting with NGOs/INGOs.
  • Experience working with UN agencies and government entities.
  • Proficient computer user: MS Word, Excel, Power Point.
  • Excellent analytical skills and knowledge in developing quality reports.
  • Working knowledge of national and international legal frameworks related to child protection and MHPSS.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both in English and Ukrainian.

Important Note: This position is to be based in Ukraine. The successful candidate must have the right to work in Ukraine.

Our offer

  • Local contract with salary and secondary labour conditions based on the in-country salary scale, local T&C's will apply. Initially the contract will be via a consultancy agreement through December 31, 2024 with the possibility of extension.
