Programme Support & Communications Intern

Work LocationGeneva Expected duration6 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe internship is located in the United Nations Road Safety Fund (UNRSF), United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) in Geneva. Responsibilities • Supporting the Call for Proposals of 2024 process and related activities, including screening of proposals, proposal submission databases, compiling information for the Call for Proposals report, and other relevant tasks; • Draft articles, briefing notes and other outreach communications to help raise visibility of the global road safety crisis; • Support the events, campaigns, projects and activities planned of the UNRSF; • Support the relevant activities of the UNRSF on social media; • Supporting in compiling, tracking and following-up to update project contribution to the logical framework of the Fund; • Supporting in the preparation for, and the execution of workshops, events and meetings hosted by the Secretariat, often involving project teams and other stakeholders; • Supporting in project management activities, including monitoring, project closing or extending processes; • Supporting in the outreach and development of strategic partnerships, involving background research and communication with partner agencies; • Supporting in compiling and managing databases of project information, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information and maintaining master Excel documents essential to project operations; • Supporting in internal and external communications with project stakeholders to follow up on project progress; • Supporting in coordinating meeting schedules, draft meeting minutes in an accurate, organized, and concise manner; • Performing other duties as requested. Qualifications/special skillsTo qualify for the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met: - Applicants to the United Nations internship programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements: (a) Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); Be computer literate in standard software applications; have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; Applicants for all countries are accepted and under-represented or un-represented countries in the UN are encouraged to apply. The secretariat will request a writing sample from shortlisted candidates, as a way of assessment. A brief interview will be conducted. No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship. • Demonstrated ability to gather, analyse and synthesis information from various sources. • Basic understanding of project and document management principles and event facilitation. • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment and willingness to take on new challenges. • Strong attention to detail and an ability to propose effective solutions. • Full proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel. LanguagesFluency in English (both oral and written) is required. Fluency in French, Spanish considered an asset. Additional InformationNot available.
