๐Ÿ“Œ Type of Contract: Consultancy Contract, level II

โŒšTime type: Part-time, when actually employed (WAE). The incumbent is expected to work approximately 15 days per month.

โžก๏ธ Unit / Division: Programme Unit / WFP Ukraine

    ๐Ÿ“ Duty Station: Kyiv

    โžก๏ธ Duration: 11 months (renewable)

The position is only open to International candidates (non-Ukrainian)

What will you do in this position?

Under the direct supervision of the Head of Livelihoods and Food Systems and the overall guidance of the Head of Programme, the incumbent will take a leading role in ensuring that aggregation and pro-smallholder purchases are properly managed and coordinated. The incumbent will contribute to the daily planning and coordination of WFP Programme Operations and will work in close collaboration with the Supply Chain Procurement team, including managing relationships with farmers, agribusiness players, producer and farmer associations, UN agencies, and relevant government departments. The incumbent will deliver on one of WFP Ukraineโ€™s Livelihoods and Food Systems Strategy pillars, which focuses on implementing a traceability system and increasing the share of pro-smallholder procurement from Ukraine. The position will be based in Kyiv, with frequent field travel.

    Why work with WFP Ukraine?

The war in Ukraine has had drastic consequences, both for people inside the country and for those around the world who depend on its food supplies. The war has caused immense suffering for civilians, displaced families, and disrupted supply chains and food production. It has caused one of the fastest forced population movements since the Second World War. Close to 6 million Ukrainians are still living as refugees across Europe, and almost 3.3 million are internally displaced. Many have lost their homes and livelihoods. As food production and supply lines are disrupted by fighting, many families in the east and south of Ukraine do not have reliable access to nutritious food.

WFP uses a combination of food and cash assistance to support communities affected by the war. This includes working with local partners to distribute food boxes in areas near the frontline and providing cash transfers in locations where people have access to banks and markets to buy food. Since March 2022, the WFP has distributed food and cash assistance equivalent to 3.01 billion meals to people displaced and affected by the war.

How can you make a difference?

In this position, you will have to:

    1. Contribute to the operationalization of WFP Ukraineโ€™s 2025-2027 Food Systems and Livelihoods Strategy, specifically focusing on the pillar that aims to implement a traceability system and increase the share of pro-smallholder procurement from Ukraine.
    2. Manage partnerships and relations with small-scale farmers, agribusiness private sector players and associations representing Ukrainian producers of grain, pluses, and vegetable oil to increase the share of WFPโ€™s pro-smallholder purchases from Ukraine.
    3. Engage and coordinate with small-scale farmers producing WFPโ€™s basket of commodities to establish entry points for direct and indirect sourcing.
    4. In coordination with the Partnerships team, lead the project proposal preparation for the WFP Ukraine Agri-Hub model.
    5. Manage internal and external relationships regarding the development and implementation of the WFP Ukraine Agri-Hub model.
    6. Work closely with partners such as the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to ensure coordination and advocacy on the use of the state agrarian register (SAR) and support to small-scale farmers and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) close to frontline areas.
    7. In close collaboration with the Procurement team, contribute to the 2025/2026 sourcing plan and the definition of pro-smallholder targets.
    8. Analyze data and contribute to the preparation of accurate and timely reporting, including Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) about the project, supporting a WFP-wide view of livelihoods and food systems activities that enables informed decision-making and consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
    9. Performing other duties as assigned as per the needs of the operations.

To join us in saving lives, changing lives, you will have:

Education: Advanced university degree in Agribusiness, Logistics, Food Systems, Economics, or a related field.
