Thanks to a grant from the Arcadia Fund, IUCN aims to expand the digitization of our collection to increase the free, worldwide access to the conservation knowledge produced by IUCN.

PANORAMA โ€“ Solutions for a Healthy Planet is a partnership initiative, grounded in its vision of a global community where changemakers share, adopt, and scale-up inspiring solutions for a healthy planet.

PANORAMA provides an open, neutral platform for anyone to share their successes across a wide range of topics, learn from the experiences of other practitioners and exchange knowledge as part of the community. It connects local solutions with global policy processes and frameworks, such as the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. Under PANORAMA, IUCN partners with GIZ, UNDP, UNEP, GRID-Arendal, the World Bank, ICCROM, ICOMOS, IFOAM โ€“ Organics International, Rare, OCTO and EcoHealth Alliance. Jointly with GIZ, IUCN has been managing the initiative over the past 10 years. IUCN also leads on promoting solutions across 8 out of 11 PANORAMA Communities, on topics such as species conservation, protected and conserved areas, sustainable urban development and restoration. PANORAMA has been recognized as an existing tool that will support implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. An MoU with the CBD Secretariat was signed in 2022.

Since 2020, the Federal Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUV) has supported coordination and strategic development of PANORAMA through the PANORAMA support project. A 2nd phase of the project (2024-2026) has just been approved and will be jointly implemented by UNDP, GIZ and IUCN. It will allow for further establishing PANORAMA as a key tool for knowledge management IUCN internally as well as externally.

The position is housed in the recently established Knowledge Management, Learning and Library Services (KMLLS) Team, and will form part of the teamโ€™s growing โ€œknowledge managementโ€ pillar. IUCN has committed to advancing a systematic, strategic approach to knowledge management. The broader application of existing, well-established tools like PANORAMA will form a key part of that strategy. JOB DESCRIPTION The incumbent will support the work of the PANORAMA Management Unit, consisting of the PANORAMA Coordinators and management staff of GIZ and IUCN. This will be achieved through implementation of the new PANORAMA support project. The incumbent will support most project activities that are led or co-led by IUCN, working closely with the IUCN PANORAMA Coordinator (Senior Manager โ€“ Knowledge Management) and other members of the project team. The incumbent will also work closely with project team members at GIZ and IUCN, as well as with PANORAMA Community Coordinators across all 12 partner organizations. The incumbent will play a key role in advancing internal use of PANORAMA as part of the emerging IUCN knowledge management strategy.

Responsibilities include in particular:

- Advance quality control mechanisms, processes and guidelines for PANORAMA case studies

- Explore opportunities for enhancing the learning approach for users and community coordinators, in close collaboration with the IUCN Academy

- Advance strategic business planning for the partnership and exploring strategies for ensuring PANORAMAโ€™s continued sustainability

- Coordinate PANORAMAโ€™s representation at relevant major international events (CBD and UNFCCC COPs, IUCN World Conservation Congress, โ€ฆ)

- Support user behaviour analysis and user behaviour enhancement

- Advance work around synthesis (analysis) of PANORAMA solutions and development of guidance based on insights from solutions

- Advance positioning of PANORAMA as a knowledge management tool for implementation of the Global Biodiversity Framework; act as day-to-day focal point for the collaboration with the CBD Secretariat

- Support learning events such as write-shops, knowledge management workshops with selected partner countries, webinars etc.

- Support impact monitoring of PANORAMA Solutions, through monitoring of key performance indicators related to the adoption and replication of solutions and building blocks, including systematic collection, analysis, reporting and dissemination of data

- Support internal coordination within the project core team, the PANORAMA Management Unit and the PANORAMA partnership towards streamlined operations, organizing meetings, coordinating consultation processes, preparing Minutes etc.

- Act as day-to-day internal contact on PANORAMA for IUCN colleagues, proactively advancing further application of PANORAMA for capturing and disseminating knowledge from IUCNโ€™s project portfolio

- Other tasks as required REQUIREMENTS โ€ข A masterโ€™s degree, preferably in environmental management and/or natural resources conservation and management or other relevant field; or a bachelorโ€™s degree level qualification in a subject relevant to the position with complementary additional experience

โ€ข At least 4 yearsโ€™ relevant work experience in a relevant field, particularly: partnership coordination, community management, knowledge and learning, capacity building, nature conservation

โ€ข Very good written and spoken English; good level of other relevant European languages (German, French, Spanish) is an asset but not essential;

โ€ข Ability to work independently and deliver quality products within agreed tight deadlines;

โ€ข Highly structured, attention to detail, self-starter

โ€ข Cultural sensitivity, diplomatic skill and tact; ability to understand and align the perspectives of diverse partners

โ€ข Willingness to travel and to work non-traditional hours as required;

โ€ข Desired Qualifications:
- Understanding of global environmental policy processes
- Experience in and understanding of impact measurement, quality assurance (e.g. peer review, certification) and/or event management
- Initial experience in project development, project management and/or business planning and fundraising SALARY The minimum gross annual salary for this position is EUR 46'160. While this is an indicative amount effective as of the current date, changes may occur as per IUCN's compensation practices without prior notice.
