Position: Programme Intern, Program against Sexual Exploitation of Children in Travel and Tourism (SECTT)

Overall Purpose of the Internship
The ECPAT International internship programme is designed to provide an opportunity to the eligible candidates to contribute to and learn about child protection issues, particularly children’s rights to live free of sexual exploitation in travel and tourism. Interns are eligible to participate in the ECPAT International Secretariat activities, while expected to carry out the duties assigned to them under the responsibility of the designated manager.
Research, collect and analyse information on key legal interventions to protect children from sexual exploitation in travel and tourism in Latin America
Conduct research on the scope and trends of child sexual exploitation in the context of travel and tourism in specific context in other regions
Review other ECPAT publications and materials on sexual exploitation of children in the context of travel and tourism
Provide overall support to the Head of Programme, SECTT
All reports and analysis are written in close collaboration with the ECPAT Legal Programme, SECTT programme and Research Unit, as well as with ECPAT members and partners.
· Advanced degree in law with a focus in international law and/or human rights or equivalent;
· Strong research and writing skills in English and Spanish;
· Ability to synthesise large amounts of information into concise formats;
· Knowledge of international legal standards related to child’s rights;
· Previous exposure to child’s rights or other social issues is a plus.
A modest stipend of 15,000 Thai Baht/month (around US $500) will be made available to the intern. All costs related to the internship, i.e., travel, passport, visa, housing and living costs in Bangkok, are to be borne by the intern.
