In Mali, MAGENTA implements the SBCC component of the Mali Household and Community Health programme, a five-year USAID funded project aiming at improving health outcomes in Segou, Sikasso and Mopti.

The Programme Coordinator position will be based in Bamako, in the consortium project office. The primary responsibilities of the Programme Coordinator will include: 1) conducting programme and context analysis; 2) assisting with programme management and implementation; 3) contributing to programme design and development; and 4) contributing to organisational knowledge management. The Programme Coordinator will work under the guidance of the Africa Regional Lead and/or Programme Managers. The Programme Coordinator will provide project management support for the implementation of the Mali Household and Community Health programme. Typical tasks include:**

Situation Analysis

ยท Conduct thorough literature reviews on a variety of topics to inform the design of projects and research studies

ยท Conduct stakeholder mappings and situational analyses to inform the design of projects

ยท Contribute to technical reports, project presentations, and programme updates through strategic thinking and analytical writing

ยท Conduct stakeholder consultations with subject matter experts, key informants, academics, etc. to inform situational analyses

Programme Coordination

ยท Contribute to the development of behaviour change communications strategies

ยท Develop and utilise monitoring framework, risk matrix and workplans

ยท Coordinate project partners, e.g. consultants, media, civil society

ยท Provide inputs to resource plans and budgets

ยท Support the development of clear and insightful creative briefs, rooted in Malian culture and context

ยท Provide constructive feedback on creative elements and ensure strategic messaging is integrated into content

ยท Monitor project KPIs and update monitoring and evaluation tracking tools

ยท File project documentation, including finance and admin documents

ยท Organise project logistics, including travel and calendar scheduling

ยท Assist in projects reporting, taking into consideration how weโ€™ll evaluate it against the objectives.

Programme Development

ยท Contribute to programme design, including theories of change, activity design, M&E frameworks, resource plans, financial plans

ยท Contribute to proposal (technical and financial) preparation and submission

ยท Contribute to the expansion of MAGENTAโ€™s professional network in Mali

Knowledge Management

ยท Update MAGENTA databases, including past performance records, contact lists, partner testimonials

ยท Record detailed meeting notes

ยท Compile project case studies and contribute to updating MAGENTA thematic portfolio on a regular basis

Requirements & Competencies

ยท 2-5 years of professional experience in programme coordination and/or communications

ยท BA in communications, international development, or related field

ยท Fluency (spoken and written) in French and English is required; other relevant language skills are a plus

ยท Experience working in Central Mali (Mopti, Segou and Sikasso) an asset

ยท Experience in public health programming and asset

ยท Robust logic chain analytics and strong general analytical skills

ยท Familiarity with the project management cycle

ยท Excellent written and verbal communication skills

ยท Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities

ยท Demonstrated desire for excellence and an ability to inspire others to attain professional excellence

ยท Technological and digital fluency, including Social Media (Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter)

Working Conditions

ยท Some long hours including evening and weekends to complete tasks or attend events

ยท Willingness to work in regions that are remote and lack basic modern infrastructure
