The Role
The Programme Associate (VAM) to be based in Vientiane. He/she will work under the overall supervision of Head of Research Assessment and Monitoring and direct supervision of VAM Officer.

Duration: One year with possible extensionACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direct supervision of the Head of VAM, the Data Analyst will undertake the following tasks:
- Support heads of RAM and VAM in implementation of assessment and targeting in line with wider VAM policies, processes and guidance to enable effective decision-making on the development of country strategy, policies and programmes;
- Participate in vulnerability assessments, food security and nutrition assessments such as mVAM, other assessments by supporting the development of systems and tools for the food security and nutrition monitoring and various type of assessments of food assistance needs in line with VAM methodologies and best practice and data analysis using SPSS, STATA or R;
- Support the development of information products, knowledge sharing and information dashboard development such as Intranet Sharepoint, seasonal monitor, price bulletins, as well as information knowledge management using intranet SharePoint, data visualization and mapping;
- Assist with compiling/cleaning spatial, non-spatial tabular data which will contain predefined base indicators and related for spatial data infrastructure including food security; socio-economic, agro-ecological, nutrition; health, and vulnerability;
- Maintain, update, and improve existing databases and knowledge management platforms (Dataviz, MODA, VAMDataLib - WFP VAM Data Library, etc.);
- Provide technical support to both WFP staff and government counterparts to strengthen capacities of the government in assessments and beneficiary targeting to effectively inform preparedness and response activities;
- Other deliverables as deemed required by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Deliverables:
- Food security analysis, food security output tables;
- Update databases;
- Strengthened capacity of WFP and government staff on data collection and analysis;
- Age and gender are systematically considered, integrated and documented in all activities throughout the assignment;
- Updated spatial data infrastructure;
- Matching area codes with attribute information (geo-coding).
Education:
- University degree in economics, agriculture, social sciences, development studies, statistics, or related
Experience and knowledge:
- At least 6 years of food security and nutrition related data collection, data analysis using statistical software such as SPSS, STATA, R and GIS;
- Experienced user of visualization software (Python, R, Power Bi, Tableau).
- Strong database Knowledge (SQL, MSAcess).
- Knowledge in front-end web development (HTML, CSS, Javascript, etc.)
- Experience interacting with partners and other stakeholders on the issues related to food security;
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of several statistical tools and methods for food security analysis.
- Developed practical expertise in food security analysis and mapping by participating in multiple assessments
Competencies:
- Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills;
- Strong organization and planning ability;
- Capacity to work simultaneously on several projects and multitasking abilities;
- Ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.
Language:
- Strong written and oral communication skills in both Lao and English.
