    Background and Purpose of the Assignment:

    The World Food Programme (WFP) is the leading Humanitarian Organization fighting hunger and changing lives worldwide, delivering food assistance in emergencies, and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience. In Egypt, WFP is committed to supporting the Governmentโ€™s priorities towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. WFPโ€™s current five-year Country Strategic Plan (CSP) 2023- 2028 is designed to fully support Egyptโ€™s Vision 2030 and ensure food and nutrition security for all Egyptians and non-Egyptians.

    The CSP focuses on three interrelated thematic areas:
    1.Support the crisis-affected populations through food assistance and resilience building;
    2.Improve the resilience of vulnerable Egyptian populations especially in Haya Kareema villages;
    3.Provide capacity strengthening to the Government and support South-South cooperation between Egypt and neighboring countries.

    Within this framework, and within the national social protection systems, WFP provides technical assistance to the Governmentโ€™s National School Feeding Programme through tailored technical assistance to different stakeholders, evidence-generation and digital systems. WFP complements the national programme by providing fortified, in-school snacks to children in community schools, and conditional cash assistance to families to promote regular school attendance. WFP also tries to fill the funding gap of the National School Feeding Programme by supporting public schools and supply chain enhancement.
    In addition, WFP supports efforts to improve access to education through the integration of technology and internet connectivity in supported schools with related capacity strengthening, contributing to more effective teaching and learning environment.

    This is an internal vacancy of WFP hence, only UN personnel with access to Workday (staff holding FTA, indefinite, Service Contracts or Special Service Agreements with any UN agency) are expected to apply directly by logging into their Workday account and submitting applications.

    Job Purpose:

    Under the direct supervision of the Programme Policy Officer (School Meals), the incumbent will provide technical, operational, and administrative support for the planning, implementation, and monitoring of school feeding and related activities of the Egypt country office. The role contributes to ensuring effective delivery of assistance, compliance with WFPโ€™s corporate frameworks, and timely coordination with government counterparts and partners.
