ย Context
Established in 2006, IOM Lebanon has set a strong track record in delivering humanitarian life-saving services to the most vulnerable populations affected by crises, while developing models and partnerships for longer-term recovery and development. The Office employs more than 300 staff (including IOM staff, consultants and hourly workers) based in Beirut, North Lebanon (Tripoli), the Beqaa Valley (Chtoura), Mount Lebanon and the South (Tyre).ย
Since October 2023, IOM Lebanon has been addressing the humanitarian needs of IDPs and supporting the Government of Lebanon to prepare for conflict escalation. From the onset of the recent escalation, IOM has worked closely with the government, UN counterparts and local partners to ensure a comprehensive response across six key areas: displacement tracking, site coordination, provision of basic assistance, health, and protection services, while ensuring the inclusion of migrants in preparedness and response efforts.ย
Under the overall supervision of the Emergency Coordinator and direct supervision of the Data & Research Senior Programme Assistant. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the implementation of data and research activities in Lebanon.
- Assist in the implementation, coordination and monitoring of Data and Research project activities.
- Retrieve, compile, summarize, and present information/data on specific project topics.
- Monitor budget; verify availability of funds; obtain necessary approval and update budget related information.ย ย
- Support administrative coordination of project implementation, involving liaison with diverse organizational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process and follow-up on administrative actions, etc.
- Draft status reports, identifying shortfalls in delivery and bringing them to the attention of the supervisor.ย
- Draft correspondence, reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentations and other forms of documentation.ย
- Support in the organization of meetings, workshops and training sessions.ย
- Respond to general information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
ย Education- School diploma with four years of relevant experience; or,
- Bachelorโs degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience. Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. ย Experience
- Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations;
- Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,
- Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.ย Skills
- In depth knowledge of the broad range of migration related subject areas dealt with by the Organization; and,
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is an advantage;
- Proved experience in conducting field research and preparing research reports;
- Good knowledge of the migration context in Lebanon and the region;
- A good knowledge of IOMโs mandate and activities is a distinct advantage.ย Languages
