Job Description

Your responsibilities:

You will join the Industry, Procurement and Knowledge Transfer Department (IPT), which is responsible for all of the Organization's procurement, knowledge and technology transfer activities. The Procurement and Industrial Services Group (PI) is responsible for procuring all supplies and services for the Organization, ensuring that the specified and contractual technical, delivery and performance requirements are met at the lowest possible overall cost whilst achieving balanced industrial returns for CERN Member States and respecting CERN's Procurement Rules. The Group monitors and reports procurement activities and statistics to CERN Management and Member State representatives.

There are two positions open in which you will:

• Advise and support the Accelerator Systems (SY) Department in identifying procurement strategies within budgets and deadlines;
• Review technical specifications;
• Conduct the market consultation with a view to preparing the procurement and informing economic operators of the procurement plans and requirements for the new building;
• Analyse bids received;
• Negotiate and follow up orders, contracts and contract amendments, with suppliers to ensure the lowest possible overall cost within the applicable legal framework;
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
• Manage or contribute to purchasing-related projects.

Your profile

Skills and/or knowledge

Demonstrated experience in the handling of orders and/or contracts related to the provision of goods, equipment and services in an international environment.Experience with European markets and international standards related to the procurement of complex goods, equipment and industrial or professional services.Experience in continuous improvement and/or digitalisation will be an advantage.Fluent in English, the ability to work in French would be an advantage.

Eligibility criteria:

You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.You have a professional background in Finance, procurement or related field (or a related field) and have either: a Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience;or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience.You have never had a fellow or graduate contract before.

Contract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.
