THE NUCLEAR ENERGY AGENCY
The Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) is an intergovernmental agency which operates under the framework of the OECD. It facilitates co-operation among countries with advanced nuclear technology infrastructures to seek excellence in nuclear safety, technology, science, related environmental and economic matters and law. The mission of the NEA is to assist its 34 member countries in maintaining and further developing, through international co-operation, the scientific, technological and legal bases required for a safe, environmentally sound and economical use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. It strives to provide authoritative assessments and to forge common understandings on key issues as input to government decisions on nuclear technology policies.
THE POSITION
The NEA is looking for a dynamic and experienced Policy and Programme Co-ordinator to support the Office of the Director-General (ODG) in carrying out the mission and activities of the Agency. Responsibilities will include co-ordinating inputs from across units and divisions at the NEA for horizontal priorities and responding to other requests from NEA senior management. The successful candidate will welcome the challenge of working in a vibrant, fast-paced environment. S/he will work under the direct supervision of the Director-General and in close collaboration with the senior management team.
Job Description
Main Responsibilities:
Strategic support to the Office of the Director-General
Co-ordinate with staff and external parties to produce analyses, recommendations, briefings, speeches and presentations, and other materials as required by the Director-General to response to events and requests on a clear and appropriate schedule.Support the development of high-quality decision and policy documents (e.g. drafting and proofreading)Address sensitive, confidential and HR matters on behalf of the Director-General and take actions as directed.Work autonomously to resolve common issues, in line with the NEAโs guidelines and procedures. Develop and disseminate best practices with the aim of organising the work of the DGโs Office in the most efficient and effective way.Disseminate new guidelines and best practices to Divisions.Carry-out any other actions as instructed to support the Agencyโs effective response to evolving circumstances.
Meetings co-ordination
Support the preparation for high-level meetings and events involving the Director-General, including engagement with organisers and NEA staff to optimize the Agencyโs impact.Evaluate and assemble background documentation for meetings and decisions.Support the organisation of high-level meetings, including the preparation of meeting agendas and talking points, as well as drafting minutes of the meetings. The work may also include the logistics for the preparation of different meetings.Represent the Office of the Director-General in internal and external events and meetings.
Qualifications
Academic background:
Qualifications in office management, communications, or a related field.
Professional background:
Confirmed relevant professional experience in a similar position, conducting tasks in an autonomous and proactive manner, preferably in an international organisation. Knowledge of the nuclear energy field would be a clear advantage.Excellent knowledge of the administrative rules and procedures of the Organisation or proven ability to learn and assimilate new rules and procedures quickly.Additional Information

Contract Duration
Two-year fixed term appointment, with the possibility of renewal.

Salary information
Please note that the appointment may be made at one grade lower in the specified job family, based on the qualifications and professional experience of the selected applicant.
Selection Process
For retained candidates, written tests/video-recorded interviews are foreseen early July and panel interviews are planned for mid-July.
