ROLE\nSUMMARY:\n\n
The Partnership and Resource Mobilization Specialist\n- East and Southern Africa is a new position created at Right To Play (RTP) to realise\nourย Strategic Plan 2024 - 2026. One of our key objectives is to develop new funding\npartnerships in Africa - with a focus on East and Southern Africa as a priority.\nYou will be the lead to develop and maintain various strategic donor\npartnerships to support programming in line with Right To Play's mission and\nvision. This will be a great opportunity for an experienced and well-connected\nadvisor focused on strategic partnerships, who can draw upon their outstanding\nnetworking skills, and excellent knowledge of the donor community and funding\narchitecture across 3 countries (Ethiopia, Uganda, Rwanda).\n\n
This is a pivotal role to increase RTP's\npartnership portfolio in East and Southern Africa through strategic fundraising\nand engagement. Reporting to theย Vice President, Partnerships (a member of RTP's Executive Team), you will work\nclosely with Country Directors, coordinate with relevant global support teams and\nhelp build stronger funding relationships in specific countries where RTP is\ndelivering programming.\n\n
Regular travel is required to support donor\nengagement across Ethiopia, Rwanda and Uganda, with some occasionally in the\nwider East and Southern Africa region, and to the Global Offices (Toronto,\nCanada; and London, UK).\n\n

WHAT YOU'LL DO:\n\n
#1: Strategic Position\n& Planning (40% of Time):\n\n
- Identify, build and maintain relationships with\npotential donors in East Africa in cooperation with country teams and global\nsupport teams.
- Develop donor engagement plans and build knowledge on\nand relationships with key donors in the East Africa region, including but not\nlimited to Ethiopia, Uganda and Rwanda, and/or interested in funding RTP\nprogramming on the African continent.
- Observe donor strategies and priorities at\ncountry/regional level and monitor opportunities to anticipate calls for\nproposals and identify bidding opportunities.
- Undertake proactive intelligence gathering, by\nmonitoring relevant trends in donor and partner organisations and relevant\nplatforms and by tracking changes in donor policies that could impact current\nor future funding opportunities.
- Provide business development expertise in positioning,\ncapture planning and proposal preparation for specific opportunities with\ninstitutional donors (government and inter-governmental award issuing\norganizations), as well as foundations and non-governmental organizations.
- Coordinate with RTP leadership\nthe strategic direction, business development strategy and efforts to meet\nannual growth targets and support the diversification of revenue from\ninstitutional donors and foundations to achieve RTP's strategic objectives.\n\n
#2: Networking and Relationship Building (35% of\nTime):\n\n
- Develop active and quality working relationships and\nmake requisite connections with country teams, donors and strategic partners in\nselect countries and identify potential funding partners.
- Strategically support and prepare RTP country\nleadership for partner and prospect meetings, including preparation of agendas,\nmaterials, key messages, and follow-up.
- In collaboration with Country Office teams, represent RTP\nin relevant external meetings and working groups in the region to increase\nRTP's visibility and allow for information gathering on funding\nopportunities.
- Promote RTP's technical positioning, approaches,\nknow-how and skills within relevant networks with a view to developing suitable\npartnerships that can unlock funding opportunities in alignment with global and\ncountry strategic plans.
- Support and mentor key Country Office senior\nmanagement teams to cultivate and strengthen institutional relationships with\ninstitutional donors, partner organizations and other stakeholders.ย \n\n
#3: Resource\nmobilisation capacity building (20% of Time):\n\n
- Work closely with teams across Country Offices,\nthe Global Program Partnership team and the Program Quality & Impact team\nto coordinate proposal and budget development processes to ensure timely\nsubmission of high-quality proposals.ย ย
- Identify capacity building needs related to resource\nmobilisation, project design, and partnership development within the region and\nhelp deliver initiatives to address these identified capacity building\nrequirements.ย
- Provide opportunities for sharing of resource\nmobilisation and fundraising knowledge, best practice, lessons-learned across\nother RTP countries and relevant global support teamsย
- In collaboration with Country Office teams, identify,\nbuild and maintain partnerships with partners that have the most potential for\ncollaboration on achieving shared goals and objectives and joint resource\nmobilisation.ย ย \n\n
#4: Performs Other Duties as Assigned (5% of Time)\n\n

WHAT YOU'LL BRING (ESSENTIAL):\n\n
EDUCATION/TRAINING/CERTIFICATION:\n\n
- Undergraduate degree in International\nDevelopment, Political Science, International Relations or related field\n\n
EXPERIENCE:\n\n
- 10 years' work experience in partnership\ndevelopment with institutional donors in the Africa region
- Knowledge of and demonstrated experience on\npartnerships with: European Commission, US Government (including USAID), FCDO,\nSIDA, ECW, BMZ/GFFO, and UN agencies
- Demonstrated experience and successes in\ndeveloping, building and maintain strategic partnerships with key actors in\nEast Africa - especially related to RTP's core program areas (education, MHPSS,\nand gender equality)
- Experience working with local partners
- Experience of resource mobilisation/fund-raising\ncompetency and capacity building including facilitating learning, coaching, and\nsupporting learning across multiple stakeholders\n\n

- Understanding of fundraising and donor policy\ntrends, humanitarian principles and established international standards in\nhumanitarian settings for refugees and other marginalised populations,\nespecially children and youth
- Knowledge, understanding and experience of\nnavigating complex funding structures and donor architecture
- Knowledge of a variety of government and\nfoundation funding mechanisms\n\n

- Fluency in spoken and written English\n\n

- Additional experience with other donors such as\nAfrican based foundations and humanitarian donors such as ECHO is desirable
- Proven track record in design and writing of\nwinning grant proposals responding to grant solicitations in a limited amount\nof time
- Experience with technical programs in education and/or\nMHPSS
- Master's degree in a related field\n\n
