5 Steps to get a job in the United Nations

Background:

The Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) is the principal institution of the OSCE responsible for the human dimension. ODIHR is the leading agency in Europe in the field of election observation. It coordinates and organizes the deployment of several observation missions with thousands of observers every year to assess the compliance of elections in OSCE participating States in line with OSCE commitments, other international obligations and standards for democratic elections, as well as national legislation. Its unique methodology provides an in-depth insight into all elements of an electoral process, and permits to make concrete recommendations to further improve electoral processes. Further details of the organization can be found at www.osce.org/odihr.

In order to strengthen its pool of Operations Experts for election observation missions, ODIHR is now inviting persons with relevant expertise to apply for inclusion in ODIHRโ€™s expert roster.

Duration of Special Service Agreement: duration of the contract is subject to length of particular deployment

Objective of the assignment:

Under the overall supervision of the Head of Mission (HoM), and in close co-ordination with the Deputy Head of Mission (DHoM) and the ODIHR Election Department, and in close consultation with the ODIHR Procurement and Contracting Officer (PCO), the Operations Expert (OE) is responsible for ensuring the efficient and smooth organization of election observation missions and effective operational support to all observers. The OE should liaise with the ODIHR Deputy Head of the Election Department and respective Election Adviser on planning and implementation of the mission.
