UNICEF in the State of Palestine works to uphold the rights of children to access services and protection, from early childhood through to adolescence. Our objective is to ensure that every child in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, irrespective of background or circumstance, has an equal chance to fulfil their potential. Nutrition Officer established to support nutrition programโ€™s general day to day functions including providing technical, information management and logistic support to the section, Ministry of Health and other health and nutrition partners in implementing nutrition programs.

Task Descriptionโ€ข Support to Nutrition program of Health and Nutrition Section, collaborating within UNICEFโ€™s nutrition sectionโ€™s staff, partners, and line ministerial staffs both in Gaza and Westbank โ€ข Assists in preparing periodic updates of nutrition through compiling data, analysing and evaluating relevant information and providing the technical input in a timely and accurate manner. โ€ข Support and follow up with nutrition activities related to capacity building, standard operation procedures development, supply chain strengthening among others. โ€ข Support in Nutrition reporting and providing inputs to Situation reports, donor reports, end year reports among others, in collaboration with Nutrition Cluster, Gaza, and West Bank nutrition teams โ€ข Participate in technical meetings with health and nutrition partners. โ€ข Support technical evaluations of supplies and follow up with supply team and relevant partners after awarding the tenders to ensure monitoring of delivery and dissemination of goods to end users as planned and conduct end user satisfactory surveys as needed. โ€ข Assist in analysing goods and cash receipt from relevant partners, government, or NGO partners to ensure supply delivery and fulfilment of payment processes. โ€ข Support the Coordination with relevant UNICEF teams such as Communication, Social Behaviour Change, PSEA, Disability and Supply among others. โ€ข Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor. โ€ข As an active UNICEF team member, efficient, timely, responsive, client-friendly, and high-quality support rendered to UNICEF and its beneficiaries in the accomplishment of her/his functions, including: โƒ The capacities and adaptability to support the nutrition programme implementation and end user monitoring is strengthened; โƒ Full compliance with UNICEF rules, regulations, policies and strategies ensured; โƒ Monthly reports detailing support provided in tasks mentioned. โƒ Relevant Standard Operating procedures are adhered to. โ€ข Accurate information, data analysis, and documentation are timely made available to support the nutrition programme analysis, input and reporting. โ€ข Effective partnership and working relationships with government counter partners, NGOs and CSOs to conduct field visits and monitoring activities jointly with them, where permissible. โ€ข The development of capacity through coaching, mentoring and formal on-the-job training, when working with (including supervising) national staff or (non-) governmental counterparts, including Implementing Partners (IPs); โ€ข Age, Gender and Diversity (AGD) perspective is systematically applied, integrated and documented in all activities throughout the assignment. โ€ข A final statement of achievements towards volunteerism for peace and development during the assignment, such as reporting on the number of volunteers mobilized, activities participated in and capacities developed.

Living conditions and remarksThe UN Volunteer will be living in Jerusalem which is a family duty station. It is currently at UNDSS security level MODERATE. As is the case for UN staff and partners, the volunteer will make his/her own arrangements for housing and transportation to and from work. A Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) of ILS 6,200 is provided monthly to cover housing, utilities and normal cost of living expenses. Life, health and permanent disability insurance are included (health insurance for up to 3 dependents), as well as Exit allowance for satisfactory service
