Description
You will work on SBAS systems in the System Engineering Section, EGNOS and SBAS Division, Galileo and EGNOS Programme Department in the Directorate of Navigation. You will report to the Head of the System Engineering Section.
You will be primarily responsible for leading SBAS Systems Design activities across the SBAS Division.
Duties
Your tasks and responsibilities will include:
- defining, following and managing the industrial work packages in EGNOS- and SBAS-related programmes in the area of system specifications, design and development. This covers industrial supervision and interactions with the prime contractors and developing subcontractors;
- ensuring that system design solutions meet all constraints imposed by the various disciplines in close cooperation with the System Performance, System Operations, System Safety and System Security teams;
- supporting the System Qualification and Product Assurance teams in their areas of expertise;
- participating in the EGNOS Project Office boards (Technical Change Board and Project CCB) to support the management of the Statement of Compliance and potential deviations from and waivers of the EGNOS system requirements;
- following up on the implementation of the system requirements, supporting the S/S reviews and the system verification phase, including NCB;
- supporting mission-level to system-level requirements derivation and compliance management (SOC, RFD and RFW) and supporting the mission-level boards;
- supporting SBAS Systems Evolutions activities in respect of system design;
- maintaining a link with the TEC technical teams at ESTEC, supporting the EGNOS Project Office with respect to system engineering-related activities.

A masterโs degree in telecommunications or electronic engineering is required for this post
Additional requirements
A background in satellite navigation systems, notably in navigation ground systems architecture, together with several years of working experience in these fields, is considered an asset.
Experience in the procurement of industrial activities and in software development and verification is a distinct advantage.
Good interpersonal and communication skills are required, with the ability to work autonomously, effectively and cooperatively in a diverse and international team environment and to define and implement solutions in line with team and individual objectives and project deadlines.
Good analytical, organisational and reporting skills, as well as a proactive attitude to solving problems and an interest in innovative technologies, are required.

The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset.

In principle, recruitment will be within the advertised grade band (A2-A4). However, if the selected candidate has less than four years of relevant professional experience following the completion of the masterโs degree, the position may be filled at A1 level.
