The Position:
The consultant will be based in Addis Ababa, UNFPA Ethiopia Country Office.
The consultant will work under the direct supervision of the Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist and in close collaboration with the Programme Specialist.

Job Purpose:
The research assistant consultant will support the team in the areas of evidence generation on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), and Adolescent and Youth development.ย ย
You would be responsible for:
Assist in monitoring the Japan-funded project on social and economic empowerment of vulnerable women and girls through improvement of menstrual health and hygiene management and livelihood using a results-based management (RBM) approach. Participate in field monitoring visits to collect and verify data, supporting the integrity and accuracy of project monitoring.ย Assist in evidence generation on the effectiveness of investment in SRH justice in business by using aย Return on Investment (ROI) toolย developed by UNFPA.ย Assist in the documentation of good practices and the results of the project with a focus on the Public-Private Partnership.ย Assist in the development of a publication or communication materials through conducting research by utilizing a comprehensive situational analysis of menstrual hygiene management in collaboration with a University.ย Participate in follow up of the supported beneficiaries to track their progress and document their journeys to empowerment. Support for preparing progress and final reports and documentation, learning to produce professional, high-quality reports aligned with both donor and organizational standards. Support for monitoring and evidence generation in various UNFPA projects across key areas such as SRHR, Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and harmful practices,ย Adolescent and Youth, and humanitarian responses.ยThe key deliverables during the 6-month contract period (July 1 to December 30) are as follows:

Qualifications and Experience:ย
Education:ย ย
Bachelorโs degree in public health, epidemiology, development or the relevant fields.ยย
Knowledge and Experience:ย
5 years of research and monitoring experience in public health, epidemiology, development or the relevant fields.ย Some experience in working with development and/or humanitarian aid agencies. Some experience in Menstrual Health Management projects and Public Private Partnership initiatives is an asset.ย Fluency in English. Knowledge of other languages is an asset.ย Strong research, analytical and writing skills. Initiative, sound judgment and demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with staff members from different national and cultural backgrounds.ย

Fluency in English; knowledge of Ethiopian regional languages and another UN language is an asset.

Please note that grade mention in the consultancy is for reference purpose ย keeping in view the generic requirement of the consultancy and final lumpsum renumeration will be determined upon evaluation of requirement and candidate's profile.
