ย The Internship Programme aims at attracting talented students and graduates who have a specific interest in, or whose studies have covered, areas relevant to IOM programmes and activities. Interns must be between 20 and 36 years old and should have less than two years of relevant working experience.ย
ย In general, the Internship Programme aims at attracting talented students and graduates who:
ย a) have a specific interest in, or whose studies have covered, areas relevant to IOM programmes and activities; b) are holding a scholarship for internship placements in international organizations and/or for whom internship is required to complete their studies; or c) are sponsored by governmental/non governmental institutions and/or academia to work in specific areas relevant to both IOM and the sponsor. d) are either enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelorโs level or equivalent) or have graduated in the last 12 months. e) are between 20 and 36 years of age.
ย Background Information
IOM was founded in 1951 to bring Europeans ravaged by the Second World War to safe shores and new lives. In September 2016, IOM became the UN Migration Agency following an agreement with the UN signed during the Summit for Refugees and Migrants. The new status of IOM as a Related Organization to the UN aims at establishing better coordination of efforts among relevant agencies to ensure that the issues of migrants are comprehensively addressed. IOM Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT) Mission focuses on Gaza. In light of the increased communication needs surrounding the response and the operational progress and advocacy efforts , this internship aims to support the production of compelling multimedia content - including graphic design, videography, and video editing โ to highlight humanitarian impact, promote visibility, and strengthen IOMโs storytelling efforts.ย
Supervision

- Gain hands-on experience in producing, editing, and organising multimedia materials aligned with IOMโs communication standards.ย
- Learn how to plan and execute multimedia assignments in coordination with communication teams and field colleagues.ย

- Under the guidance of the Communications officer, the intern will:ย
- Support the creation, editing, and organisation of multimedia content (photos, videos, and graphics) to document IOMโs Gaza Response activities.ย
- Assist in planning and coordinating photo and video shoots with photographers inside Gaza, implementing partners, and beneficiaries.ย
- Edit short videos and prepare photo selections for publication on digital and social media platforms.ย
- Organise and maintain multimedia archives and shared folders, ensuring proper metadata, labelling, and filing.ย
- Support in drafting captions, story outlines, or shot lists in alignment with IOM communication standards.ย
- Contribute to the development of visual content for social media campaigns and internal reports.ย
- Learn to apply IOM branding and visibility guidelines across multimedia products.ย
- Collaborate with the Regional Office and HQ communications teams to align materials with global communication objectives.ย Education
- Be enrolled in the final academic year of a relevant university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent); or
- Be enrolled in a relevant graduate degree programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or
- Have graduated with a relevant university or graduate degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within one-year of graduation. Experience
- Previous academic or volunteer experience in multimedia production, photography, videography, or communication, using software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Lightroom, or InDesign, is desirable.ย
- Experience in managing digital content, student media projects, or creative portfolios will be considered an advantage.ย
- Demonstrated interest in humanitarian or development communication is an asset.ย ย Skills

- Depending on experience and location, interns are granted a small monthly stipend to help offset costs. Interns benefiting from an internship allowance or scholarship granted by his/her university or other sponsoring body that includes financial remuneration or credits for coursework will not be eligible for the stipend.

- IOM covers Interns against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan (CP), free of charge, for the duration of the assignment. IOM does not provide evacuation or medical insurance for reasons related to non-occupational accidents and illnesses. Interns are responsible for their own medical insurance for non-occupational accident or illness and will be required to provide written proof of such coverage before commencing work.
