The Role:
In order to address gender stereotyping, this project โShomotay Tarunnoโ aims to enable young people in all their diversities, including GYW, to challenge gender stereotypes that limit and stop them from enjoying their full potential. Plan International and JAAGO Foundation will work together to amplify the rights, representation, transformation and resources of young people, with all their diversities including Girls and Young Women (GYW) from local to national level to combat harmful gender stereotypes.
The Media Specialist, will work under the supervision of the Advocacy and Consortium Manager. The position holder will be responsible for developing implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive media plan and media strategy development throughout the year for the project. This position requires a strong understanding of media technology and pedagogy and the ability to collaborate effectively with relevant stakeholders such as- media outlets, agencies, youths, influencers, Govt, academia, ministries, civil society and peer organizations etc. The Media Specialist will develop and maintain an active media relation that meet the objectives of the project and ensure that staff and relevant stakeholders have access to appropriate and up-to-date media resources. The successful candidate will also provide support for the maintenance of media-related policies and media monitoring. S/he will lead the process of integrating successful media campaign with projects and programme keeping it aligned with visions and campaign priorities of the project and most importantly with youth and youth organization for building and strengthening partnership with them.
What weโre looking for:
We need a self-motivated and energetic individual with Masters in Mass Communication/Journalism/Public Relations/International Relations/ English from a recognized University and with At least 7 yearsโ experience in similar job in development organization with 3 yearsโ experience as a media specialist. S/he has to have significant experience of designing and delivering media campaign contents both at rural and urban setting. Should have very strong English and Bangla language communications skills both written and verbal with understanding of basic techniques, strategies and channels to advance social justice campaigns targeting a range of key audiences. Should have strong knowledge of and interest in media research and media literacy and media advocacy. Also have sound knowledge on constantly shifting political, economic, social, tech and media trends and dynamics of relevance to effective campaigning. Should have experience in community organising, media mobilisation especially engaging young people and/ or working with social movements for change. Should be capable of strategic thinking and trend analysis - able to derive insights from qualitative and quantitative data for media purpose. Also have the ability to deliver creative, innovative work, involving cross-team collaboration, within a tight deadline. S/he should have strong knowledge of human rights and gender justice. Should have knowledge of web design and content management systems, paid social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, twitter and YouTube. Also, Budgeting skills to assist in programme budgeting, tracking, reporting and knowledge of project management approaches.
