Position Title: Media and Communication Manger - HQ

Department Name: Operations โ€“ Media and Communication

Supervisor of Position: Executive Director

Employment Definition: Full Time

Location of Position: Washington, D.C.

Key Responsibilities:

โ— Create actionable plans to both grow followers across social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn

โ— Ensure brand consistency in copy and visual assets through language, tone, and terminology

โ— Ensure and maintain progress on all platforms by using analytical tools such as Google Analytics and social media insights

โ— Develop and implement media outreach efforts, including but not limited to crafting press releases, media advisories, op-eds, and media plans to support SAMSโ€™ outreach and advocacy efforts

โ— Secure and coordinate TV, radio, and press interviews, op-eds, and media appearances

โ— Supervise and develop HQ and field media teams

โ— Oversee the crafting, design, and implementation of monthly social media editorial calendars and newsletters which includes monthly highlights from the field and announcements

โ— Promote SAMSโ€™s projects and events, including but not limited to medical relief work, education, advocacy, conferences, and fundraising events

โ— Lead the development, drafting, and design of annual reports

โ— Works with in-house graphic designer and video editor for content creation and formatting resources and materials, infographics, presentations, booklet, graphics, etc.

โ— Collaborate with other departments and develops marketing and written material to help promote their work through various social media mediums and other necessary means

โ— Devise, oversee, and implement a strategy for written content and messages to promote various fundraising and awareness campaigns (special appeals, events, monthly giving. Etc.) through online outreach

โ— Manage the creative process for online fundraising, including creation of copy and artwork for all digital fundraising campaigns

โ— Lead production, execution and analysis of email, web, peer-to-peer, pay-per-click, and other online initiatives designed to generate excitement around programs and substantive work to promote online giving and to convert website and social media audiences to donors

โ— Work closely with all departments to create integrated, multi-channeled and interactive online initiatives to maximize online engagement

โ— Identify cross promotion opportunities

โ— Oversees and helps manage the monitoring and evaluation of online platforms

โ— Other tasks as assigned


โ— Bachelorโ€™s degree in communications or journalism; Masterโ€™s degree preferred

โ— 5 - 7 years of related experience in strategic communications for nonprofits, brand and audience strategy, advertising, online fundraising, and marketing

โ— Minimum 3 years of experience supervising and overseeing direct reports

โ— Excellent written and oral communication skills

โ— Fluency with website and social media platforms and digital content production

โ— Proficiency in Arabic language a big plus
