Who we are?

IDA is an international independent non-governmental organization providing medical and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflicts, natural disasters and epidemics regardless of race, religion, gender or political affiliation.
IDA was founded in 2012 by Syrian doctors from Aleppo in response to the healthcare and humanitarian crisis in Syria.

IDA Syria is the main healthcare provider in the Northern Aleppo/Syria area, working closely with 500,000 IDPs and 700,000 host communities through 20 healthcare facilities and other health and nutrition projects

During last year, IDA has provided 1.2 million services in Heath, Nutrition, WaSH and Camp Management

Responsibilities:

The Logistics Officer will be responsible for spearheading our logistics operations, ensuring meticulous asset management, and optimizing inventory procedures. This pivotal role demands a blend of strategic planning, in-depth understanding of logistics, and the ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage comprehensive logistics operations, inventory control, and consumption patterns.
  • Enforce adherence to asset management policies and oversee asset lifecycle from procurement to disposal.
  • Record and manage asset transfers, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to manage maintenance schedules and requirements for organizational assets.
  • Produce monthly reports on asset movement and usage.
  • Develop and implement an annual asset inventory strategy; prepare and submit corresponding reports.
  • Conduct and manage annual asset inventories across multiple locations, including Syria and Turkey, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Document and address any incidents of asset loss, damage, or destruction.
  • Guarantee supplier compliance with contractual agreements and oversee procurement processes.
  • Deliver procurement reports to support decision-making processes.
  • Maintain segregation of duties within procurement to ensure integrity and compliance.
  • Monitor resource consumption and manage the distribution of donations to beneficiaries.
  • Execute monthly field visits to oversee operations and ensure policy adherence.

Competencies:

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in logistics or a closely related area.
  • Experience in humanitarian settings and understanding of relevant operations.
  • Proficiency in Arabic (mandatory) and Turkish (preferred). Knowledge of English is advantageous.
  • Strong IT skills, particularly in Excel and Word.

Context/Specific Skills:

  • Familiarity with the Northwest Syria and Azaz sub-district contexts.
  • Recognized standing and reputation within the community.
  • Proven track record of working with local partners and conducting assessments.
  • Willingness and ability to travel within Turkey and North Syria.

  • Competence in managing operations within insecure environments.
