Work LocationRemote - China Expected duration4 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesUnited for Efficiency (U4E) is a global initiative launched in 2015 to help developing and emerging markets quickly and comprehensively transition to energy-efficient lighting, room air conditioners, household refrigerators, electric motors, transformers and data centres (see http://united4efficiency.org). A well-designed set of policies can help transform these markets by enabling them to leapfrog past outdated technologies to superior, cost-effective alternatives. U4E has a diverse and growing portfolio of activities around the world, which requires a local consultant to engagement on cooling and data centre related activities in China to share with other countries. The consultant will be responsible for: โข Stakeholder Mapping and briefings: Identify and map relevant stakeholders in China, including government bodies, industry groups, and technical experts. Develop briefings based on U4E existing tools and resources on data centres and cooling. โข Meeting Coordination: Organize, schedule, and coordinate meetings, workshops, and consultations with stakeholders. This includes preparing agendas, background materials, and taking meeting minutes. โข Communication and Follow-up: Serve as a liaison between U4E and Chinese stakeholders, ensuring timely communication, follow-ups, and tracking of action items. โข Reporting: Prepare regular updates and reports on stakeholder engagement activities, highlighting key outcomes, challenges, and recommendations. โข Support in Event Planning: Assist in the planning and execution of events related to U4E cooling and data center initiatives. The consultant will report to U4E but will closely work with key stakeholders in China, including government agencies, industry representatives, and technical experts. Qualifications/special skillsBachelor's degree in energy management, environmental science, international relations, or a related field degree or equivalent in engineering, physical sciences and/or environmental sciences/studies. โข At least 4 years of professional experience (may include relevant internship experience) in project management, preferably on energy policies and international development programmes; Experience in climate change mitigation projects pertaining to end use cooling appliances and data centre activities is beneficial. โข Excellent written and oral communications skills, preferably on energy or environmental related topics; โข Experience in facilitating meetings with Chinese government stakeholders and industry representatives; โข Basic familiarity with Chinaโs energy policies and appliance technologies and understanding on cooling technologies, and data center cooling needs is an asset. โข Knowledge of project management concepts; โข Experience in developing and building coalitions to support existing activities and proposals for new activities in China. โข Excellent record in collaborating with a team, and ability to adapt to meeting varying needs as a project evolves.
