WORK CONTEXT

CESVI is starting a project aimed to enhance resilience and self-reliance of vulnerable Afghans and their hosting communities in Iran, in a way that they can build sustainable incomes and increase the access to social and economic services, with a special focus on promotion of Climate Smart and Climate Adaptive Agriculture Practices.

In this context, CESVI is recruiting an expat Livelihood Project Manager to plan and execute the intervention strategy of these activities.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The collaboration is expected to start in June 2024 (exact timing subordinate to VISA approval).

The main duty station will be the Country Office in Teheran (Iran), with possibility of field visits country-wide.

The Livelihood Project Manager will report to the Head of Mission (HoM) in the Country.

The main tasks are:

Management of the project

o In coordination with the HoM, support the process of identification of specific activities and locations under the assigned outcome (livelihood sector), design and respect detailed workplan and implementation plan;

o Provide technical support to projectโ€™s activities in the Livelihood/FS sector, with focus on Climate Smart Agriculture;

o Ensure that all project activities are in line with the international standards and the requirements of the local authorities;

o Define and implement the strategy and implementation modalities of the projectโ€™s expected outcome under CESVI responsibility;

o Develop and maintain track records of projectโ€™s outputs, supervise the activities, prepare reports to the Donor and CESVI HQ;

o Work in close coordination with other NGOs member of the consortium;

o Actively participate to Livelihoods Clusters and Working Groups active in the Country.

Support the definition and development of programme Country strategy and Donors acquisition

o Contributing to the definition of a Country Strategy Paper in collaboration with the Head of Mission;

o Suggest, develop and design, in coordination with the Head of Mission, new programme initiatives (Donorsโ€™ relations, liaising with potential donors, assessment management, writing and submitting new proposals).

Implementation of Safeguarding policies โ€“Adult at risk/Child Safeguarding/PSEA:

o Ensuring Safeguarding measures are implemented within his area of responsibility;

o Ensuring safeguarding measures are in place and staff, associates and other key stakeholders are made aware of and supported in implementing these measures;

o Ensuring Safeguarding measures are integrated with existing processes and systems (strategic planning, budgeting, recruitment, programme cycle management, performance management, procurement, partner agreements etc.);

o Follow up and address Safeguarding issues appropriately.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

University degree or post graduate degree, preferably in International Development/Humanitarian sector, Economics, Agronomics or other related field

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in the NGO environment in management, administration and implementation of programs as expatriate

Extensive experience of working in a management role within a complex country programme in fragile states or protracted crises

Experience with development interventions in the livelihoods sector

Experience in designing and implementing projects with specific focus on rural-related value chains

Practical experience in building of trainings in support of micro/small enterprises linked to agri-business activities

Previous experience in planning and executing activities related to Climate Smart and Climate Adaptive Agriculture, for example: training on cultivation of drought-tolerant (DT), high yield, low soil-erosive crops; micro-irrigation systems; creation of ground greenhouses; improvement of waterflow systems

Knowledge of main Donorsโ€™ rules and procedures (in particular, INTPA)

Ability to produce timely project proposals and high-quality narrative reports

Fluency in English (written and spoken)

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS

Previous working experience in Iran or Middle East Region

Previous experience in implementation of projects in partnership with local and international NGOs

Previous experience in projects aimed at supporting small and medium agro business activities

Cesvi pays particular attention to safeguarding the health of all the human resources of the Organisation. Therefore, in order to protect its staff, an assessment of their suitability for the position in each mission is carried out before departure. Such assessment is done by the Occupational Doctor of the Organisation, who will also examine the vaccination coverage.
