Work LocationUnited Nations HQ Expected duration3 to 6 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities of the internship position encompass all aspects of the Directorates work. These responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: • Assist in analysing and interpreting international, regional and domestic legal instruments. • Assist in planning and organising meetings, briefings, roundtables, seminars and other CTED events • Assist in preparing documents arrangements for the organization of CTC/CTED meetings, briefings, roundtables, seminars and other events: • Assist in preparing background notes, talking points for meetings, missions and other events attended by CTED staff; • Conducting research to contribute to CTED analytical products on trends and developments in terrorism and counter-terrorism. • Research, draft and update country profiles and other background documents in preparation for high-level meetings and other events; • Assist with preparing infographics and visual aids for CTED documents and presentations; • Attend and take notes at meetings, conferences and other events; assist in the preparation of summaries and reports of discussions; • Assist in other ad-hoc activities as instructed. An interest in counterterrorism issues or international criminal law is desirable. Qualifications/special skillsTo qualify for the United Nations Secretariat internship programme applicants must, at the time of their submission, be enrolled in a graduate school programme (i.e. Master's degree or equivalent degree, or higher) or in the final academic year of a first-level university degree programme (i.e. Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree), preferably in the area of law, political science, international relations, social sciences or a related field, OR have graduated with a university degree as defined above AND, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period from the date of graduation. LanguagesFluency in English or French, the working languages of the United Nations (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of another language is desirable Additional InformationNot available.
