Your responsibilities

As a Junior Electrical Test Engineer, you will join the Accelerator Systems Department (SY). Within this department, the Accelerator Beam Transfer (ABT) group is responsible for beam transfer between the different accelerators and beam lines at CERN.

The wide portfolio of tasks and the cross complex nature of the group will not only allow you to get a divers technical experience and professional network but also to work on CERN kicker equipment from the injectors up to CERN's flagship accelerator the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).

In this position, you will be directly working with the teams responsible for the fast pulsed magnet systems. Your responsibilities will include:

Testing of the fast pulsed magnet system, especially the system qualification and high voltage conditioning; Preparation and setting up of pulsed power laboratory experiments; Carrying out measurements on both, kicker magnets and their pulse generators in the laboratory and the operational accelerators;Basic programming of measurement interfaces for automatization purposes; Writing measurement reports;Keeping documentation and system identification up to date (EAM); Assembling electrical and power electronics circuits including the soldering of delicate components; Assembling and testing of HV cables and connectors.

Your profile

Skills and/or knowledge

Good knowledge of electrical circuits and electronics; Knowledge in measurement techniques for electrical/electronic circuits;Experience in carrying out measurements especially with oscilloscopes,Experience in writing measurement reports, procedures and equipment documentation;Experience in the assembly of electrical and electronic circuits, soldering and mounting of cable connectors.

Advantageous:

Knowledge of Power Electronics would be an advantage.

Language:

Fluent in English, the ability to work in French would be an advantage.

Eligibility criteria:

You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.You have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Electrical engineering or equivalent (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is either a Bachelor's or Master's degree.You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.

This position requires:

Work in Radiation Areas.Interventions in underground installations.Residence in the immediate vicinity of the Organization's installations.A valid driving licence.Work during nights, Sundays and official holidays, when required by the needs of the Organization.
