Your responsibilities

As a Junior Electronics Engineer, you will join the Accelerator Systems Department (SY). Within this department, the Accelerator Beam Transfer (ABT) group is in charge of the design, development, construction, installation, exploitation and maintenance of injection and extraction related equipment and beam-transfer systems. Those systems include fast pulsed kicker magnets, high voltage pulse generators, triggering systems, as well as associated control systems and software.

The Beam Transfer Electronics (BTE) team is responsible for the design, development, production, exploitation, quality assurance, performance follow-up and maintenance of controls electronics for all equipment under the responsibility of the ABT group and associated R&D activities.

As a member of this team, you will:

Design, produce and test a digital VME based card (hardware and gateware). This card will be based on an AMD FPGA with fiber optics transmitters. It is part of a safety critical system for the beam transfer in two of our accelerators; Simulate full HDL and develop hardware test/validation testbenches;Perform other simulations of BETS cards gateware or modules.

Your profile

Skills and/or knowledge

Knowledge of EDA boards design tools (schematics and PCB), preferably Altium or KiCad designer;Knowledge in digital electronics design; Knowledge in VHDL design for synthesis, in particular with AMD Vivad;Knowledge in HDL simulation and verification in VHDL, SystemVerilog, or otherKnowledge of Linux command line tools, e.g. git, make, docker, etc.

Advantageous:

Routing skills would be an asset; A first experience with CI/CD would be an asset; Knowledge of Python and/or C/C++ would be an asset.

Language:

Fluent in English, the ability to work in French would be an advantage.

Eligibility criteria:

You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.You have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Electronics engineering (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is either a Bachelor's or Master's degree.You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
