World Wildlife Fund (WWF), one of the worldโ€™s leading conservation organizations, seeks a Senior Program Officer, focused on climate policy and support for U.S. subnational actors.

America Is All In, a program of World Wildlife Fund (WWF), is seeking an experienced policy specialist to serve as the initiativeโ€™s Senior Program Officer for U.S. and International Climate Policy. The Senior Program Officer, U.S. and International Climate Policy (Senior Program Officer) will be responsible for providing programmatic support for the America Is All In coalition, which champions climate action in the U.S. and mobilizes leaders from the private sector, state and local governments, and other constituencies. The role will involve developing tools and mechanisms to support America Is All In coalition members, helping them take climate action by using federal climate and clean energy resources to support their institutions and communities.

All In members include thousands of U.S. cities, states, tribal nations, businesses, schools, and institutions of faith, health, and culture that work together to champion a whole-of-society approach to addressing the climate crisis. All In seeks to build stronger engagement by subnational and non-state actors to influence regional, federal, and international climate policy so that they can implement equitable climate action in their jurisdictions and institutions.

Responsibilities

Evaluates and provides insight on domestic and international climate policy to guide and enhance strategies for WWF and America Is All In.Manages relationships with key staff and policy partners, including the dedicated research and analytical teams of America Is All In, to ensure smooth collaboration and effective communication across workstreams and organizations.Leads and/or aids in the development, curation, and prioritization of resources that empower All In coalition members to maximize the benefits of existing federal policies (e.g., programs of the Inflation Reduction Act and Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act).Works directly with program and project staff to coordinate existing projects and new initiatives, including developing efforts to inform the next U.S. national climate target (nationally determined contribution, or NDC) based on sub-national experience and expertise.Supports continuity of policy agendas across All Inโ€™s convenings and events, storytelling and communications, and climate justice strategies, including relevant policy advocacy efforts.Conducts research, monitors, and analyzes new technical information, policies, tools, and global trends related to local, state, federal, and international climate policy; documents learning from projects to further support the strategies of WWF and America Is All In.Facilitates the development of short- and long-term work plans, reports, and communications materials for team projects. Represents WWF and America Is All In in relevant meetings, events, and policy discussions.Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelorโ€™s degree and 5+ years of professional experience OR masterโ€™s degree and 3+ years of professional experience in climate and environmental policy or other relevant areas.MUST HAVE background and/or skills in research, policy design, or policy implementation is strongly preferred; direct Federal experience or experience working at the state or local level is highly valued. STRONG KNOWLEDGE of climate policy, familiarity with federal legislative and administrative processes, and familiarity with notable state and local level climate and energy policies required. Sector-specific expertise in energy, transportation, industry, finance, etc., is valued.Excellent interpersonal skills and sound judgment in navigating nuanced issues with tact and balancing competing priorities from many perspectives.
