World Wildlife Fund (WWF), one of the worldโs leading conservation organizations, seeks a Senior Program Officer, Seafood Traceability and Transparency
Major Function
Based in Washington, DC, and reporting to the Director of the Market Data & Systems Transparency (MDST) team, the Senior Program Officer will oversee the execution of a portfolio of seafood traceability and transparency projects across WWF priority seascapes as well as help develop and execute global strategies to advance transparency and data-driven conservation solutions in seafood supply chains and other sectors of the sustainable blue economy.
The Senior Program Officer will be responsible for developing and executing grant work plans, tracking budgets, and coordinating and overseeing consultants executing first-mile seafood traceability projects in collaboration with WWF Network Offices in priority seascapes. They will work collaboratively with priority offices within the international WWF network and will serve as a key subject matter expert and point of contact on issues related to seafood traceability with network offices and colleagues. The Senior Program Officer will also help support fundraising and grant oversight and management efforts, including supporting the development of grant narratives, deliverables, timelines, reporting, and tracking impacts, in addition to taking a leading role in the development of WWFโs traceability and transparency vision and strategic plan.
Responsibilities
Serves as a traceability expert for the Ocean Markets & Finance and Oceans teams, providing subject matter expertise and input on team strategies and projects.Supports engagement with private sector markets and financial institutions to help educate companies on seafood supply chain risks and the role of traceability and transparency in helping companies identify and mitigate these risks.Conducts research, monitors, and analyzes new technical information, policies, tools, and global trends related to seafood and supply chain traceability and transparency.Devises, maintains, and implements workplans for delivery of project outcomes, including working with the Director to identify strategic outcomes, milestones, key activities, events, communications, and knowledge products, and consultant tasks and assignments.Develops and tracks budgets for allocation of project discretionary funds (travel, consultants, network subgrants, communications, etc.)Coordinates project consultants and contractors across the full range of project activities, helping set and supervise timelines for project delivery.Develops and coordinates activities to build and maintain productive working relationships both externally and internally, including with other NGOs working in the seafood traceability space and within the WWF network.Drafts regular project updates for reporting to funders and assists the Director in maintaining close connections with foundation grant officers and staff.Takes a leading and proactive role in developing the vision and funding concepts for seafood traceability activities beyond the current grant and project to deliver WWFโs conservation mission.Interacts regularly with representatives of WWF-International, other WWF offices and associate organizations, grantees, and consultants. Communicates with representatives of conservation organizations, universities, NGOs, corporations, and/or government agencies.Performs other duties as assigned.Qualifications
