Internal and external candidates will be considered for this vacancy. ย  Context

In the framework of the situation regarding the migrants, asylum seekers and refugees across Greece, IOM Greece is establishing a pool of candidates interested to join the organization as soon as possible. The action under which the candidates will be selected shall contribute to the provision of targeted care interventions to the unaccompanied children (UMC) residing in Greece. Therefore, IOM will capitalize on its extensive experience on the areas of child protection so as to provide tailored support and interventions to the UMC by offering accommodation and care services.

Under the overall supervision of the Senior Programme Coordinator/Field Office Coordinator and the direct supervision of the Facility Coordinator, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing daily care to UMC in the assigned accommodation facility.ย  ย  ย 

  1. Facilitate communication between UMC accommodated at the Emergency Accommodation Facilities and IOM staff operating at the EAF through interpretation and/or translation into the language understood by UMC (Arabic), orally and/or in writing. This also includes interpretation to facilitate sessions to receive information for social history of the UMC and to determine Best Interest of the Child, and interpretation to facilitate access to medical services.
  2. Facilitate communication between UMC and the state authorities, public services and local stake holders with whom UMC come into contact.
  3. Provide information to the staffย to better comprehend the perceptions of migrants. Act as a cultural mediator during the UMCโ€™s adjustment periods to their new environment.ย Assist with the interpretation between the UMC and health providers.
  4. Translate information materials to be disseminated to the UMC.
  5. Perform such other duties as may be assigned. Education
