How can you make a difference?

The Public and Private Partnerships team of UNICEF Thailand Country Office is seeking a qualified intern to support the team in programmatic and partnership-building work. The mandate of the team is to promote respect and support for childrenโ€™s rights by the private sector partners and public sector partners. Within UNICEF Thailand, the team sits with the Front Office and reports to the Representative with matrix reporting to the Deputy Representative.

The intern is expected to contribute to initiatives that can promote child rights among business stakeholders such as Family-Friendly Policies and Practices in workplaces, youth employability, child rights in the digital environment, and others. The intern will also contribute to the development of partnership strategies with the private sector and public partner/donors by conducting research and producing preliminary analysis related to child rights and business and international development cooperation in Thailand. The intern will play an important role in ensuring the smooth operations of the team by supporting tasks such as event organization, meeting coordination, proofreading, translation, drafting documents, taking notes, etc.

Through this internship, the intern will gain knowledge and experience in promoting business and childrenโ€™s rights in the private sector and the international development community. The intern will also gain transferrable skills for working in a United Nations organization. The Public-Private Partnerships and Advocacy specialist will provide the necessary supervision and guidance. The Corporate Alliances Officer will also provide support and guidance on the daily tasks assigned.

Work Assignment:

โ€ข ย ย ย ย Support preparation and organization of a study launch event on paid parental leave with external partners. Detailed tasks may include scheduling, preparing invitation letters and following up, proofreading, and translating concept notes, drafting minutes and event reports, preparing follow-up messages, etc.

โ€ข ย ย ย ย Research news, events, intelligence, and resources related to corporate sustainability, business and human rights, and international development cooperation to assist the teamโ€™s trend analysis and strategy development.

โ€ข ย ย ย ย  Draft high-quality written pieces both in Thai and English such as meeting notes, summary emails, concept notes, letters, etc. and provide translation support (Thai โ‡† English).

โ€ข ย ย ย ย  Support the ideation of creative communication content (photos, videos, human interest stories, social media posts, both in Thai and English) related to Child Rights and Business-related activities and liaise with the Communication section.

โ€ข ย ย ย ย  Participate in weekly meetings with the team and other key meetings in the office, produce concise meeting notes, and follow up on agreed action points.

โ€ข ย ย ย ย  Maintain and enhance the knowledge management system of the team

โ€ข ย ย ย ย  Maintain and regularly update the teamโ€™s partner directory

โ€ข ย ย ย ย  Delivering any other tasks where the support from the intern is deemed necessary and appropriate.

โ€ข ย ย ย ย  Upon discussion and agreement, the Intern may also assist the Public Partnerships Specialist in a research project mapping potential international donors for UNICEF Thailandโ€™s interventions in the Southern Border Provinces.

Duration of Contract: ย 6 months - The internship can be on a full-time or a part-time basis but full-time is preferred for this internship.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will haveโ€ฆ

โ€ข ย ย ย ย Preferably be a final-year student in an undergraduate or graduate school degree programme or be a recent graduate (within the past two years) with an advanced/undergraduate degree in International Development, Communication, Political Science, Business, Human Rights, or any other related field.

โ€ข ย ย ย ย Fluency in Thai and English, with good writing and speaking skills, is required.

โ€ข ย ย ย ย Interest and willingness to learn more about child rights, the SDGs, corporate sustainability, business and human rights, and UNICEFโ€™s goals and mission.

โ€ข ย ย ย ย Be well organized and structured, with good attention to detail, and able to work collaboratively in a multicultural setting.

โ€ข ย ย ย ย Proficiency in using video editing and graphic design tools is an asset.

Conditions of Intern:

โ€ข ย ย ย Expenses: Stipend according to UNICEFโ€™s guideline is applicable.

โ€ข ย ย ย Modality: It is preferable for the intern to work in person in the office at least once a week. For the remaining working days, the intern may work remotely respecting Bangkok working hours. The intern may be required to join certain meetings and events at the UNICEF Thailand office and in Bangkok, so it is preferable for the intern to be based in Thailand in an area accessible to Bangkok. In case interns need to travel, interns are responsible for making arrangements on their own.

โ€ข ย ย ย Leave: Interns may take up to 2.5 days per month off work for any reason, including medical reasons. The stipend will be reduced for any absences beyond this quota.

โ€ข ย  ย ย Health/Medical insurance: UNICEF accepts no responsibility for costs or fatality arising from illness or accidents incurred during the internship whether on or off UNICEF premises.ย  The intern must carry adequate and regular medical insurance.ย  The intern will be required to provide with a proof of medical insurance prior to commence work.

โ€ข ย ย ย Confidentiality: The intern is required to respect the confidentiality of information that s/he collect or is exposed to at UNICEF. No reports or papers may be published based on information obtained from UNICEF without the explicit written authorization by the Head of Office or Division Director.

โ€ข ย ย ย Impartiality: The intern is required to respect the impartiality and independence required of UNICEF and will not seek or accept instructions regarding the services performed under the internship agreement from any Government or from any authority external to UNICEF.

โ€ข ย ย ย Employment Prospects: There is no expectance of employment at the end of the internship.
