Since 1999, UNDP has been supporting the Timorese people move from post-conflict recovery towards sustainable development. UNDPโs current Country Programme 2021-2025 specifically focuses on poverty reduction and employment, climate resilience, and accountable governance. This initiative falls under the management of the Democratic Governance Unit to support the building of strong and capable public institutioins, and inclusive and effective democratic governance in Timor-Leste.ย
The past years, UNDP Timor-Leste has been engaged in promoting digitalization and energy transition in support to Government, local communities and local government. To reflect and these efforts as a contribution to the countryโs sustabiable develoement, the Office will conducted several advocacy events and activities, giving the voices to beneficiaires and youth as well as decision-makers.
ย Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervison of the UNDPโs Communication officer, the Advocacy Officer on Energy Transition and Digitalizationย will undertake the following tasks:ย
1. Programme implementation and logistics support:ย
Support with the organization of events, conferences and other meetings and the drafting of relevant documentation pre-and post-meetings;ย Ensure that all logistics aspects of the organization of the activity and meeting are anticipated and taken care of prior, during and after the conducting of these activity and meeting Assist the team in coordinating with beneficiaires for sending invitations for events, confirming their assistance, etc.; Assist the drafting and translation of communication and visibility material;ย Support the development of outreach materials, and the required materials for events, conferences, and other meetings;ย Assist in conduction surveys among beneficiaires;ย Prepare meeting documents and meeting reports;ย Ensure that all communications are well documented, and process managed with the utmost transparency;ย Undertake any other task as required.ย2. Event Managements
Provide administrative and logistical support to the organization of events, field missions, dialogues, presentations, meetings and other events; Support in the documentation of events ย Competencies Professionalism: demonstrated understanding of operations relevant to UNDP; technical capabilities or knowledge relevant or transferrable to UNDPโs procedures and rules; discretion, political sensitivity, diplomacy and tact to deal with clients; ability to apply good judgement; ability to liaise and coordinate with a range of different actors, especially in senior positions; where appropriate, high degree of autonomy, personal initiative and ability to take ownership; resourcefulness and willingness to accept wide responsibilities and ability to work independently under established procedures; ability to manage information objectively, accurately and confidentially; responsive and client-oriented; Integrity: demonstrate the values and ethical standards of the UN and UNDP in daily activities and behaviours while acting without consideration of personal gains; resist undue political pressure in decision-making; stand by decisions that are in the organizationโs interest even if they are unpopular; take prompt action in cases of unprofessional or unethical behaviour; does not abuse power or authority; Teamwork and respect for diversity: ability to operate effectively across organizational boundaries; excellent interpersonal skills; ability to establish and maintain effective partnerships and harmonious working relations in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, mixed-gender environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity; sensitivity and adaptability to culture, gender, religion, nationality and age; commitment to implementing the goal of gender equality by ensuring the equal participation and full involvement of women and men in all aspects of UN operations; ability to achieve common goals and provide guidance or training to colleagues; Commitment to continuous learning: initiative and willingness to learn new skills and stay abreast of new developments in area of expertise; ability to adapt to changes in work environment. ย Required Skills and Experience
ย Education:
Applicants to the UNDP internship programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:
Be enrolled in the final academic year of High school or first university degree in relevance study area.ย Have recently graduated with High school or a university degree and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation Intrest on energy transition and digitalization.ยIdeally, the applicantโs education should be in a relevant field to the internship position to which they are applying for.

Expenses & Insuranceย
1. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, passports, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of:
ย ย ย (a) The sponsoring institution, related institution or Government, which may provide the required financial assistance to its students; or
ย ย ย (b) The intern.
2. Interns, whether engaged in-person or remotely, are responsible for securing adequate medical insurance for the duration of their internship with UNDP and must provide self certification of good health prior to starting the internship. UNDP will not reimburse the medical insurance of the intern. Any costs arising from accidents and illness incurred during an internship assignment will be the responsibility of the intern.ย
3. Selected candidates for in-person internships must show proof of valid medical insurance for the duty station in which they will intern. For internsย that are neither nationals nor residents of the duty station of the internship, the insurance must include adequate coverage in the event of an injury or illness during the internship duration which:
ย ย ย (a) Requires transportation to the home country or country of residence for further treatment;
ย ย ย (b) Results in death and requires preparation and return of the remains to the home country, or country of residence.
