Work LocationBangkok/Remote Expected duration3-6 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe mandate of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) is to promote sustainable and inclusive development and regional connectivity in the Asia and Pacific region. ESCAP's role as a regional development arm of the United Nations Secretariat is to support its membership with policy-oriented research and analysis, normative support and technical assistance and capacity building, to respond to the development priorities and changing needs of the Asian and Pacific region. This internship is located with the Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT), Department of Management (DM). The internship is UNPAID and full-time. The minimum duration of an internship is two months and can be extended up to a total period of six months. Interns work five days per week (37.5 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the division or office to which they are assigned. Responsibilities will depend on the individual's background as well as the internship period. Duties may include, but are not limited to: - Assist in creating and editing videos. - Assist with graphic design, photography and photo editing. - Research, compile, draft and edit basic information for use in the preparation and production of media material. - Assist in drafting and preparing background documents, reports, talking points, articles, presentations etc. - Assist with organizing events, website management and mailing public information materials. - Assist in maintaining databases. - Perform other duties as necessary. Qualifications/special skillsApplicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship. Potential candidates will be contacted by the hiring manager directly for further consideration. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
