The IOM Transition and Recovery Unit (TRU) in South Sudan is seeking a remote intern to support the work of the programme team. This internship offers an opportunity to learn about IOMโs Transition and Recovery work in South Sudan, gain initial work experience, and develop knowledge across a broad range of technical areas within Transition and Recovery programming.
Working under the overall supervision of the Programme Coordinator (TRU) and the direct supervision of the HLP officer, the intern will be responsible for the following duties and tasks:ย ย ย
- Conduct desk research on HLP issues in South Sudan, including customary and statutory tenure systems, gender dimensions, and conflict dynamics.
- Assist in monitoring HLP activities such as legal awareness, mediation, and land access initiatives.
- Contribute to the drafting of reports, briefing notes, case studies, and training materials.
- Assist in dissemination and routine updates of the Due diligence toolkit.
- Contribute to the design of new HLP-related tools and resources.
- Support and document IOM HLP teamโs engagement with the the Humanitarian Cluster framework includes an Area of Responsibility (AoR) focused on Housing, Land, and Property (HLP) .
- Prepare monthly updates and reports for AoR focal points.
- Assist in planning consultations for the development of an HLP training curriculum and contribute to curriculum drafting.
- Track HLP team monthly activities (e.g., TDYs, resources, country support).
- Draft and disseminate monthly updates for the internal IOM HLP Community of Practice.
- Help plan and organize knowledge-sharing events (e.g., webinars, brown bag discussions).
- Develop knowledge of HLP programming through research, toolkit development, and resource mapping. ย Education
A degree from an accredited academic institution, preferably in Law, International Development, Social Sciences, International Relations, or a related field.
