Organizational Setting

FAO Country Offices, working under overall corporate guidance and in line with the Strategic Framework, offer policy advice and support to countries in the mandated areas of FAO, facilitated through partnerships, resources and an active country programme to provide technical assistance, develop capacities and deliver core services while fully observing international standards of accountability to establish leadership and strengthen impact at the country level.ย
The offices deliver on the programmatic priorities of each country as agreed in their respective Country Programming Frameworks (CPFs) aligned to the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) and ensure effective and efficient operations with adequate human and financial resources.ย
Specifically, FAO Country Offices: i) advocate, inform and support policies and investments in the areas of FAOโs mandate; ii) provide technical assistance and deliver core services; iii) assist and catalyse partnership and resource mobilization activities to support agrifood systems transformation; iv) position FAO as the specialized/authoritative technical agency in food and agriculture and agrifood systems transformation; andย
v) ensure risk-smart and accountable operations and management. ย
The position is home-based with the possibility of travel to DPR Korea
Reporting Lines
Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative, the direct supervision of the Deputy FAO Representative, technical guidance of Lead Technical Officer (LTO), in close coordination with the FAO DPRK team, the international consultant will perform the tasks described below.
Technical Focusย
Provide technical expertise on integrated pest management in fruit production and capacity development through Farmer Field School (FFS) under the FAO project TCP/DRK/4002.
Tasks and responsibilities
โข ย ย Prepare a report on global best practices of IPM in fruit cultivation
โข ย ย Analyze and prepare a report on potential and economic insect pest and diseases of fruit cropsย
โข ย ย Analyze the baseline assessment report and identify areas of interventions under the project
โข ย ย Review the training and capacity development needs and prepare training materials and curriculum on farmer field school on fruit production
โข ย ย Provide online training to the national and local stakeholders about integrated pest management as per the country needs and existing field situation
โข ย ย Design the demonstration guidelines on fruit IPM to be established in pilot farmsย
โข ย ย Prepare a final report of the project and end of assignment report
โข ย ย Any other activities, as necessary

Minimum Requirements
โข ย ย University degree in agriculture, entomology or other related fieldsย
โข ย ย Minimum five years of practical experience in pest management
