1. Organisational Context
In order to help fund this work the Individual Giving team at Headquarters level support fundraising teams around the world in their efforts to raise money from the public in each of their markets. This activity can be categorized into the key areas of acquisition (bringing in new supporters), retention (maintaining support) and donor development (finding opportunities for further supporter engagement).
As an intern for the Individual Giving department, you would focus on the area of Individual Giving. This is the area of fundraising that relates to charitable gifts made by the public. For example, through small but regular donations monthly or single gifts in response to an emergency. The standard giving level of an individual would be between $0-1000 in a twelve-month period.
2. The position

3.Duties and Responsibilities
The main responsibilities will include:
โข Finding ways to better engage with and support the global fundraising community. The key channels for this will be through the Individual Giving online sharing platform (SharePoint), Microsoft Teams virtual Chat Groups and virtual Webinars
โข Support some key Individual Giving projects including a mystery shopping project across multiple markets to monitor UNHCR and similar organisations fundraising activities in order to learn and make improvements; the development of a global donor development product called โBetween Livesโ which includes content and marketing materials to be used by markets; the development of global products for acquisition channels such as Direct Response TV and face to face fundraising
โข Support for the organization of capacity building events such as skill shares (either virtual or in person) and help with more regular meetings and workshops held by the Individual Giving team
โข Ad hoc tasks and projects that arise within the Individual Giving team that will benefit from additional support
4. Eligibility requirements
In order to be considered for an internship, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:
โข Be either a recent graduate (having completed their studies within two years of applying) or a current student in a graduate/undergraduate school programme from a university or higher education facility accredited by IAU/UNESCO; and
โข Have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in a field relevant or of interest to the work of UNHCR
NOTE: An individual whose father, mother, son, daughter, brother or sister is a staff member of UNHCR, including a Temporary Appointment holder or a member of the Affiliate Workforce, is not eligible for an internship.

6. Location and Conditions
This internship is to be based in the UNHCR Office of London, United Kingdom.
The successful candidate will be expected to be located at this office during the period of the internship. Flexible work options are possible in line with UNHCR policies and with the agreement of the supervisor.
As the given duty station is London, applicants should be able to demonstrate permission to reside and legally work in the UK at the point of application for duration of the internship. Obtaining and renewing current visas and residence permits including all associated costs, are the primary responsibility of the intern. UNHCR may assist by providing supporting documentation if needed.
Payment: Interns who do not receive financial support from an outside party will receive an allowance to partially help to cover the cost of food, local transportation and living expenses.
Recruitment as a UNHCR staff and engagement under a UNHCR affiliates scheme or as an intern is subject to proof of vaccination against Covid-19.
