Project Overview:

USAIDโ€™s Health, Evaluation and Research (HEARD) Project is a global implementation science partnership with the mission of improving health and development in low resource contexts through better use of evidence to inform implementation. The HEARD partnership addresses policy and program priorities in thematic areas such as maternal, newborn and child health, protecting children from violence, mental health and psychosocial support, urban health and disability assistive technologies. The Project is implemented through a partnership of more than thirty-five organizations spanning implementation, policy, research and advocacy-oriented organizations. Activities span 17 countries and five regions.

Responsibilities:
The Implementation Science Associate supports the technical team by coordinating and managing activities within our protecting children from violence and mental health and psychosocial support portfolios (and others as needed). Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensure quality project deliverables such as technical reports and briefs, summaries, case-studies, and success stories.
  • Contribute to knowledge management and communication activities, such as managing the HEARD project social media and listservs, drafting communication updates, managing internal file sharing platforms and streamlining KM processes, etc.
  • Support development of virtual knowledge hubs and associated resources.
  • Support presentations for conferences, technical meeting, workshops, review panels, etc.
  • Organize and support communication with Technical Review Panels (TRPs), Technical Advisory Groups (TAGs), and Communities of Practice (COPs). Assist with organizational communications with TAGs, TRPs, and COPs, including identifying, recruiting and briefing members.
  • Support the engagement with stakeholders outside of the HEARD Project, including UN agencies and other multilateral institutions, international donors, and bilateral funding bodies, regarding their role in the ISC.
  • Support technical management and monitoring of sub-awards
  • Support data analysis, report writing, and development of peer-reviewed publications, policy briefs, tools and others, as appropriate.
  • Provide additional technical support, as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent writing and editing skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to write technical information in a clear and accessible manner.
  • Strong general knowledge of global health issues
  • Strong program coordination, organizational and support skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong inter-cultural and interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in international development, public health, communications or a related discipline. Masterโ€™s preferred.
  • Minimum three years combined international development experience that includes health related programming, use of data and technical writing. Some USAID experience preferred.
  • Knowledge management experience working for an international development organization implementer or donor strongly preferred.
  • Research implementation and support experience preferred.
  • Previous overseas experience in developing countries or working with projects in developing countries preferred.
  • Experience working with social media sites as part of a communications strategy.
