Project Context and ScopeThe Need and Population Monitoring (NPM) programme, under IOMโs Gaza response, is designed to execute a comprehensive range of data collection activities and assessments across the Gaza Strip. The primary objective is to conduct regular population monitoring and multi-sectoral needs assessments in various thematic areas. These assessments aim to inform strategic interventions and support humanitarian actors in understanding and addressing the needs of the affected population. This initiative seeks to enhance the effectiveness of humanitarian responses by providing accurate and timely information, thereby enabling better planning, resource allocation, and implementation of aid programs.ย
ย Organizational Department / Unit to which the Consultant is contributingย Needs and Population Monitoring Programme Tasks to be performed under this contract
โข ย Assist in the implementation and routine monitoring of project activities in line with approved workplans and under the supervision of senior staff.
โข Support the maintenance, updating, and routine operation of programme databases and data collection systems.
โข Contribute to the implementation of established data gathering and information management mechanisms to ensure timely, accurate, and reliable data collection, storage, and reporting.
โข Support the monitoring of data collection processes, including data encoding, validation, storage, and transfer to IOM data repositories and data warehouses, in accordance with established procedures.
โข Conduct routine data processing, cleaning, and basic analysis of collected data to support programme reporting and operational decision-making.
โข Assist programme staff in the adaptation and use of data collection tools, databases, and standard statistical outputs, including tables, charts, and maps.
โข ย Support the routine use and operation of existing GIS systems to produce maps and spatial outputs based on approved datasets and methodologies.
โข ย Perform data visualization and mapping using GIS software and other approved data visualization platforms, following established standards and templates.
โข ย Promote the consistent application of GIS coding and geographic referencing in data collection activities, in coordination with senior IM/GIS staff.
โข ย Provide user support to programme staff and implementing partners on the use of IM and GIS tools, including contributing to user guides, training materials, and basic training sessions under supervision.
โข Assist in providing guidance and hands-on support to colleagues within the unit on standard IM tools and workflows, as required.
โข ย Carry out data entry, verification, and updates when necessary to ensure completeness and accuracy of programme datasets.
โข Perform other related duties as assigned.

โข ย ย ย ย Bachelorโs degree in computer science, Information Management and related ย engineering programmes or related fields from an accredited academic institution ย ย ย ย with three years of relevant professional experience in GIS and mapping systems., or
โข ย ย ย ย High School diploma with five years of relevant professional experience
โข ย ย ย ย Minimum three years of experience in GIS and mapping systems.

โข ย ย ย ย Experience in the management and coordination of information flows, data management including collection, storing, processing, and analyzing data to generate information products.
โข ย ย ย ย Knowledge of the latest technological developments in information technology and information system.
โข ย ย ย ย Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
