Head of Information Technology & Services

The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) supports central banks’ pursuit of monetary and financial stability through international co-operation and serves as a bank for central banks. The Bank acts as a hub for issues that concern monetary policymakers and financial regulators and responds to these concerns with relevant research and policy proposals. Through work undertaken for central banks and supervisory authorities, BIS contributes to monetary and financial stability, which is essential for sustained economic growth.

The opportunity

Reporting to the Secretary General, the Head of Information Technology & Services (IT&S) is the most senior IT leader within the BIS. The Head of IT&S will drive technological innovation and digital transformation across the Bank through the effective leadership of the Central IT function.

In order to achieve this, the Head of IT&S will;

• Lead the development and delivery of IT strategy & governance, IT infrastructure & operations, corporate applications, data analytics, and digital platforms and services. Maintain resilience of IT operations as well as strong governance and risk management processes.
• Chair the Bank’s IT co-ordination group, addressing overarching IT investments and operational costs across the central IT function and federated business IT functions. Lead and coordinate the development of a Bank-wide IT Strategy (inc. continued cloud and AI Adoption) that supports the BIS in achieving its strategic goals.
• Ensure the successful implementation of the Bank’s technological roadmap, continually improving the BIS IT capabilities, direct and vendor partner resources, cyber security posture, and operational resilience, in line with business objectives.
• Oversee IT architecture framework to ensure continued alignment of technological development with business goals and support of cost-effective innovation and growth. Manage the Bank’s IT budget according to defined strategy and priorities.

  The successful candidate will bring:

  • Strong executive business facing IT leadership skills. A proven track-record of leading end to end delivery from strategy through to highly secure, resilient, and performant IT operations.
  • Proven experience of shaping and delivering business aligned IT strategy, through exceptional stakeholder skills, and a structured approach to governance and appropriate risk management.
  • A strong track record of leading diverse multi-disciplinary delivery teams, including the commercial and operational management of complex vendor partnerships and service delivery.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills. An ability to engage and advise senior leaders upon strategic digital, data and technology investments, innovations, and continuous performance improvement.
