The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) is hiring a Head of Digital Products to join our Information Technology and Services team.

The role is based in Basel, Switzerland, however, thanks to our status as an international organization, we can hire globally and welcome applications from candidates of all nationalities located anywhere in the world. Relocation support is available for the successful candidate and their dependent family members.

Purpose of the job:

Our mission is to support central banks' pursuit of monetary and financial stability through international cooperation, and to act as a bank for central banks.

Information Technology Services (ITS) provides the technology that runs all our Bank operations globally, from hybrid cloud infrastructure, digital workplace tools, DevOps technologies and data and analytics platforms, right through to end user computing and business applications. As a member of the ITS Management Team, you will lead development and operational activities for our external customer facing applications and digital services.

o Contribute to the strategy and vision for our digital products by supporting in enhancing existing applications, adopting new platforms, fostering a unified approach while ensuring a positive customer experience.

Principal accountabilities:

o Responsible for ensuring the ongoing operation of the Bankโ€™s digital engagement platforms, including, for example, customer/extranet portals, digital content collaboration systems, Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM), event registration, API gateways, and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.

o Responsible for design and development of digital products, in support with business needs and our innovation and technology transformation efforts.

o Strategy development: develops and implements a long-term strategy and roadmap for their area, in collaboration with the management team, and ensures that they are well communicated to their team and endorsed by relevant stakeholders. Actively contributes to overall ITS strategy.

o Works with IT governance and information security functions to ensure systems are secure by design and comply with Bank policies, standards, and best practices.

o Team management of a team of internal and external staff, including training & development, performance reviews and motivating the team.

o Supplier management: responsible for the work of external service providers operating within their functional area. Negotiates scope of services and commercial terms with suppliers. Manages ongoing supplier performance and relationships.

o Product / service management: including the day-to-day operation of IT systems and services and ensuring they meet the highest professional standards and follow applicable policies and procedures. Responsibility for preparing and gaining approval for operational budget.

o Liaison role: pro-actively collaborates closely with all relevant stakeholders, particularly within the BIS customer departments, but also with management, technical staff, external partners and providers.

o Representation and management support: participates actively in relevant ITS Management Team meetings. Assists with the overall management of ITS and its staff. Represents ITS in various meetings and committees.

Qualifications, skills, and experience:

o Experience in software product management and development or related IT roles

o Experience of creating and delivering B2B service concepts and technology roadmaps

o Experience of user-centric design and employing associated methodologies (e.g., UX, product management, design thinking)

o Experience of working on cross-functional projects spanning multiple technology teams and specialisms

o Broad and current knowledge of enterprise IT vendor landscapes

o Skilled in obtaining and interpreting customer priorities and demand and in formulating technical strategy.

o Experience of presenting to senior executive audiences on customer experience and technology topics

o Experience working with complex enterprise architectures with knowledge of cloud technologies.

o The required collaboration skills to establish strong working relationships across different technical teams and business users; combined with the ability to work independently and proactively as required.

o An ability to understand and adapt to a broad range of existing and new technologies.

o Excellent communication skills in Englishโ€“ written, visual and oral.

o Knowledge and experience with Microsoft services and development technologies (Azure, Dynamics, Entra, C# .NET, WCF, WPF, Visual Studio etc) will be an advantage.
