This is an exciting opportunity to be directly involved and influence global humanitarian reform processes, by providing support to the Grand Bargain Ambassadors and Senior Leader to influence and advance progress, including through producing and developing high quality concept notes and other products, as well as through participation in key meetings and the development of strategies and plans. The Grand Bargain Senior Adviser will act as the main contact point for the Grand Bargain Facilitation Group Sherpas. The position will also oversee and support Secretariat processes, such as the annual self-reporting and communication strategies, including enhancing and strengthening strategic communication and outreach to non-Signatories and to a wider public, building stronger links with outside processes and stakeholders.
Background:
The Grand Bargain, launched during the WHS in Istanbul in May 2016, is a unique agreement between some of the largest donors and humanitarian organisations who have committed to get more means into the hands of people in need and to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the humanitarian action.
The process is supported by a light Secretariat, responsible for overall coordination and communication in the process, and for providing specific support to the governance bodies, namely the Grand Bargain Ambassadors and the Facilitation Group.

NRC is seeking a highly qualified โGrand Bargain Senior Adviserโย with demonstrated experience and substantial working knowledge of humanitarian issues, including the Grand Bargain and global humanitarian policy; and with solid experience working with governments, non-governmental organisations, the United Nations and/or the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement.ย

Some of your specific responsibilities include:
Support to the Senior Leader
Provide support to the Senior Leader, including development of supporting documents for decision making and meetings, such as concept notes, option papers and briefing notes to support advancement of progress. Developement of strategies and plans to advance the progress for the Grand Bargain priorities, including for any initiatives led by the Grand Bargain Facilitate meetings as needed on behalf of the Senior Leader.ย Engage bilaterally with relevant stakeholders as needed to ensure the Secretariat and the Senior Leader are fully informed of individual implementation efforts, challenges, and blockages.ย Act as the main contact point for the Facilitation Group Sherpas.ย Support the Facilitation Group Sherpas in organising quarterly meetings, including proposing the agenda, ensuring bilateral preparation as needed, and drafting the necessary supporting documents.ยSupport of the Secretariat processesย

What you will bring:
Masterโs degree in international relations, development, or another relevant field.ย 7 years professional experience, preferably in the humanitarian sector. Proven ability to convey complex problems in accessible concepts and terms, both verbally and in writing and to adapt language and messaging for different audiences. Experience of producing high quality concept notes, key messages, and other products. Experience with coordination at global policy level.ย Excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills. Strong initiative and collaborative working style. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Substantial working knowledge of humanitarian issues, including the Grand Bargain and global humanitarian policy.ย Solid experience working with governments, non-governmental organisations, the United Nations and/or the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement.ยWhat we offer:
