Your responsibilities
Improvements in the management of Electrical Safety risks have been identified as a priority for the management of CERN's accelerator complex. Rigorous and pragmatic solutions to the multifaceted challenges are required.
The Electrical Safety Project has been set up to develop strategies for improving electrical risk management. The project is hosted by the Engineering Department (EN) which pushes forward the limits of technology to provide innovative research tools to the physics and engineering worldwide community. Within the Information Management Group (IM) group, you will join the Electrical Safety Project Team.
Are you passionate about software development and committed to ensuring safety in complex technical environments? We are seeking a skilled Software Developer to contribute to our team working on the Electrical Safety Portal within the Accelerators & Technologies Sector (ATS). Your work will directly contribute to making interventions safer, providing real-time knowledge of electrical risks, and integrating seamlessly with diverse systems at CERN.
If you are ready to make a meaningful impact on safety within cutting-edge scientific facilities, this opportunity is for you! Through the utilisation of technologies such as JavaScript (React), the HTML5 stack, Java, OIDC, and leveraging our internal cloud services, you will be instrumental in shaping the portal's architecture. Additionally, you'll rotate into the SCRUM master role, conduct code reviews, participate in pair coding sessions, and offer guidance to other team members.

Skills and/or knowledge
Experience in professional software development with back-end and front-end technologies (Java, Spring Boot or Java EE, JavaScript, HTML5, React)Proficiency in writing JavaScript single web page applications with React or a similar frameworkAwareness of the interplay between HTML, CSS and JavaScript and the ability to dynamically build and modify elements on a page with easeHands-on experience with continuous build and automated testingHands-on experience in using collaborative code repository inside a team (git, GitLab, GitHub)Fluent in EnglishEligibility criteria:
You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.You have a professional background in Software Engineering (or a related field) and have either: a Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience;or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience.You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.Additional Information
