The Financial Planning and Analysis Unit is responsible for the oversight and management of long-range plans, annual budgets, forecasting, modelling, analysis and reporting across CGIAR. The Unit ensures that financial information is collated accurately and in a timely fashion from across CGIAR. The analysis and reporting of this data support senior leaders and budget holders to make decisions which secure CGIARโ€™s standing as an effective, well-run organization.

The Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) Business Partner supports budget and planning activities and the monitoring of financial results across CGIAR. The FP&A Business Partner works with senior leaders and budget holders to support them in developing their budgets and forecasts.

The FP&A Business Partner ensures that the right information is collected and consolidated from across CGIAR in a timely and efficient manner to monitor results. The FP&A Business Partner carries out extensive analysis to equip senior leaders and their teams with reports, insights and recommendations to overcome any issues that have been identified.

Duties and Responsibilities

Assess and analyze financial data and information to support the development and monitoring of CGIAR annual budgets. Analyze financial information across CGIAR Units and Centers to support the development of budgets and forecasts, providing accurate reports and insights to assist with decision-making. Highlight insights gained which are of importance to business leaders and initiate methodologies to assist with KPI identification and tracking of progress. Illustrate data, key findings and insights gained from financial analysis by producing reports which are easily understood and support effective decision-making. Engage with senior managers and their teams and provide advice, information, and insights to support effective financial functioning. Advise and support global teams with expense reviews to ensure alignment and compliance with CGIAR procedures of accounts and expense monitoring. Communicate the financial status of projects underway with partners and stakeholders, ensuring that the information is accurate, reliable and presented in a way that is suitable for the audience as requested. Establish a reporting schedule for delivering analyses and insights to senior managers and their teams to support the smooth running and financial standing of their work, highlighting potential issues as soon as possible. Assess and make recommendations to improve data collection and analytical processes to ensure that financial information is readily available and accessible. Review financial information and outputs to ensure alignment with CGIAR standards and compliance with local legislation. Assess the effectiveness of financial reporting and make recommendations to improve the quality and usefulness of dashboards and reports.

Education and Experience

Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or similar. Demonstrated Experience with Business Intelligence and Analytics. Demonstrated experience working within an international organization. Experience with data storytelling and data visualization is a plus.

Strong data-gathering and analytical skills. Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with various levels of stakeholders and ensure that information is shared effectively and accurately. Ability to carry out financial modelling. Highly developed communication skills and the ability to present financial information and associated insights in a format which is easily understood. Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills and ability to work collaboratively with people at all levels in a decentralized, respectful, multi-cultural, multi-disciplinary organization. Consistent record of personal integrity and upholding the highest ethical standards by inspiring trust and treating all people with respect.

Language(s)

Fluency in English is essential to communicate in writing and speaking. Knowledge of a second language is desirable.
