The International Water Management Institute (IWMI), a CGIAR Research Center is looking for a competent, self-motivated, and dynamic candidate to join IWMI's office in Cairo as Finance Officer.

The Finance Officer is responsible to perform a variety of finance related tasks in MENA region and support the country representative in the financial and operations related matters of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) office and will assist project leaders with day-to-day financial aspects of the projects run in the region. The Finance Officer is the primary interface with the finance department of IWMI\u2019s headquarters (HQ).



Assist in planning of financial operations, including systems for cash flow management, budgeting, consolidation of accounting information, internal controls, financial record-keeping and financial reporting, Ensure that all MENA Region expenses are booked to the project in the respective month and to correct budget lines, Maintaining proper filing system for MENA office vouchers and other documents. Monitor and hold custody of petty cash float (HQ advance). Ensure adequate insurance policies obtained against all risks for MENA office. Review the Accountable Grant Agreement, special provisions and financial conditions, Compile the documents for raising the PO and SES in the SAP system and keeping digital record of all the financial documents for uploading in the SAP system. Keeping record of allocation of all assets purchased for the MENA Region by liaising with HQ. Establish and monitor the application of IWMI\u2019s central financial policies, procurement procedures and the rules and regulations. Assist the Project Leaders in building budgets according to IWMI\u2019s procedures and funders guidelines, Support Project Leaders in budget monitoring and in implementing financial recommendations, Ensure that project is charged only with eligible expenses, as per the accountable grant agreement and exceptions need to be dealt with Project Leader. Liaise with various IWMI-HQ departments and gather data to support the financial aspects of the project implementation in MENA region. Review the projects expenses and ensure that expenses are charged to the correct budget lines and address the non-conformances. Ensure that a physical check of all assets takes place on an annual basis and prepare an up-to-date inventory report by liaising with HQ. Supporting the annual audits and produce financial reports when required.


A postgraduate degree in accounting, finance, MBA or relevant field Working experience with international organizations with good understanding of Egypt and MENA accounting, financial analysis, and financial reporting principles and practices. Excellent knowledge of MS Office (MS Excel, Word) and familiarity with relevant computer software. Experience in SAP ERP software would be an advantage.

This is a nationally recruited staff position and only applicants who are eligible to work in Egypt will be considered. IWMI offers a competitive salary and benefits package. The duration of the contract will be for a period of three years but appointed and renewed on yearly basis. Extension of contract is based on performance and availability of funds.
