Your responsibilities

You will join the Accelerators Systems Departs (SY), specifically the Electrical Power Converters Group (ECP) who is in charge of the design, development, procurement, construction, installation, operation and maintenance of electrical power systems for all accelerators, transfer lines, experimental areas and tests facilities at CERN.

In this position, you will:

Provide support (operation, maintenance and re-design if required) concerning the integration of 2kA, 600A and 200A converters in the IT-String project. Validate the last design version of the power converters 2kA and 600A that will be installed in the HL-LHC project.Upgrade the design considering the validation results.Define and follow the process to certify the 2kA and 600A converters as CE marking.Design and produce a portable test bench in order to validate the 30 types of electronics boards used to produce the 600A and 2kA power converters.

Your profile

Skills and/or knowledge

Demonstrated experience in power converters control and regulation. Experience in electro-mechanical design of electrical systems, electronics board and converters validation. Knowledge of high power PCB design considering CE rules.

Eligibility criteria:

You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.You have a professional background in Power electronics (or a related field) and have either: a Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience;or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience.You have never had a fellow or graduate contract before.
