The purpose of the Education Assistant position is to assist in the day-to-day implementation of Education activities in South Kordofan.
Generic responsibilitiesย
Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines, with strict adherence to the Code of Conduct and Child Safeguarding policies. Assist with the implementation of the NRC Education South Kordofan portfolio. Prepare and develop status reports and other documents as required by Supervisor or management. Ensure proper filing of documents. Promote the rights of refugees, IDPs, returnees and the host community in-line with SPERE and INEE Minimum Standards Promote and share ideas for project and activity improvement. Use initiative in day to day problem solving in line with agreed procedures, priorities and standards for the education. Ensure target beneficiaries most in need using vulnerability criteria to support learner registrationSpecific responsibilitiesย
Provide daily support to education incentive workers and teachers and supervise daily workers in line with programme objectives and NRC quality standards. maintain computerised and manual records to support the work of the education team across the programme, including records of those providing teaching and children participating in the education provisionย in line with internal procedures, regulatory requirements and confidentiality requirements Maintain the education tools, resources and equipment used by the education team across the area, including supporting the provision of resources in the range of languages and media required. Ensure direct communication and feedback with beneficiaries and stakeholders at field level, with a focus on community leaders, headmasters/principals, teachers and students Lead in mobilization and sensitization of community membersย Assist with capacity building activities for beneficiaries, with a focus on teachers Organize, support and participate in PTAs, School Improvement Plans and School-Based Management Committees Organize and implement distributions of teaching and learning supplies and materials; maintain records of commodity movements and secure appropriate supporting documents Ensure schools /learning spaces safe for children & report protection concerns immediately Ensure complaints and feedback response mechanism is in place at field level Any other task relevant to the position as requested by the Supervisor or management.Professional competenciesย

Knowledge of Education in Emergencies (EiE) and formal basic education preferred Knowledge of South Kordofan or Kordofans context preferred Knowledge of needs and challenges of refugee, host community, returnee and IDP children preferred Experience working with local organizations, government institutions or local Initiatives. Experience liaising with and mobilizing local and community stakeholders preferred Field level experience with an NGO or UN an asset Understanding of SPHERE and INEE Minimum Standards an asset. Candidates with a computer science, IT, data analysis, data management or communication university and/or advanced degree; experience in Child Protection considered in lieu.
