This is a hybrid position which requires 8 days per month in the office. You can be based in our office in London or The Hague. Existing work authorization is required at the time of application submission as WRI is unable to sponsor any visa work sponsorship for this position.
Please note that this is a full-time maternity cover position from June 2025 until January 2026 (the exact date is TBC). We can consider a part-time option of 32 or 36 hours per week.

Staff are also deeply involved in WRIโs programmatic work on core issues such as food, forests, land use and water, cities, and energy, and the ocean as well as economics and finance. Job Highlight:
As Digital Media Associate, you will report to the Head of Communications of WRI Europe.
You will support social media and digital marketing activities of the organization, delivering and leveraging a range of engaging content and approaches, and lifting its online profile. You will be responsible for integrating equity into your work.
You will be responsible for digital content development and online outreach, including social media management, quality and effectiveness monitoring of online engagement and online content creation for WRI Europe social channels and the Vice-Presidentโs social channel. You will also work on audiovisual elements and assist with collateral development and stakeholder marketing.
What will you do:
Online communications content development and online outreach (65%):
- Manage and grow WRI Europeโs social media channels (currently LinkedIn and Instagram most notably, legacy channel X/Twitter) to drive continued growth in numbers and impactful messages and uptake by influencers
- Protect and enhance our reputation. Ensure delivery of a proactive and relevant social media plan, with Instagram activity and LinkedIn posts.
- Support and manage online media profile of Vice-President for WRI Europe, most notably on Linkedin
- Engage in a targeted way with key audiences and influencers. Secure high levels of engagement and responsiveness with users, investigate and follow-up on reaching new audiences such as youth
- Strategize around momentum, advertisement, new channels and online campaign, create a strong editorial calendar
- Online content creation, leverage the WRI brand, expertise, knowledge and data to create engaging content that informs, supports and encourages our audiences about our work, โEuropeanizeโ global content wherever possible
Other materials (audiovisual) and help with collateral development, supporting strategy (25%):
- Video and audiovisual product development (around Europe strategy, around programmatic strategic priorities, around donor engagement)
- Co-produce script development, manage content creation, work with vendors, guide deliverables
- Help with other collateral development (brochures/flyers), support the writing and editing and creative concept development, on a needs basis
- Work with vendors for execution
Stakeholder marketing (10%):
- Create email campaigns for specific occasions towards a targeted audience (invitations or specific email โnewsflashesโ)
- Create compelling templates for stakeholder outreach/direct marketing and advise on the techniques and database management behind it.
What will you need:
- Education: You have a bachelorโs degree in a relevant area, such as communications, journalism, marketing and media, public relations, creative design, languages, arts
- Experience: You have 3+ years of relevant experience in a marketing, social media or communications environment
- Excellent command of digital communications and digital marketing tools and strategies
- Demonstrable knowledge of best practices, ways of working, processes, and systems for social media work
- Experience developing, monitoring and evaluating integrated social media strategies to achieve organizational objectives
- Experience generating high levels of engagement with followers, particularly on LinkedIn and Instagram
- Experience developing or commissioning creative and compelling multimedia content, including videos, graphics, lives, etc.
- Experience developing relationships with key social influencers that have helped achieved campaigns, communications, or organizational objectives
- Experience in translating complex information and data into compelling social content
- Proficient in technologies such as InDesign / Adobe, WordPress and Canva design programs
- Experience with video editing tools such as Buffer, Premiere, and Final Cut Pro
- Demonstrable knowledge of email or stakeholder marketing technologies such as MailChimp, Pardot and Salesforce is desirable
- Work experience in an NGO or private sector environment related to climate, sustainable development or social development is desirable
- Languages: Proficiency in verbal and written English.
Potential Salary:
If based in the Netherlands: โฌ49,000 โ โฌ58,000
If based in the UK: 38,000 - ยฃ45,000
Salary is commensurate with experience and other compensable factors.
