Mission and objectivesERONet (Enabling Rural Opportunity Network), formerly known as the Agoro Community Development Association (ACDA), was founded in 2001 by women affected by the civil war in Northern Uganda. Evolving from its roots, ERONet now operates as a women-centered community-based organization committed to alleviating suffering and promoting sustainable development in Lamwo and Kitgum districts. Mission and Objectives for This Project: ERONetโs mission is to create equitable opportunities for vulnerable populations, with a focus on women, girls, and people with disabilities. Aligned with this project, ERONet aims to address the mental health challenges faced by households caring for children with Nodding Disease. The organization seeks to strengthen community resilience through health education, accessible care, and empowering caregivers to manage the psychological and social impacts of this condition. This project underscores ERONet's broader goal of improving health and well-being in post-conflict communities.
ContextNodding Disease Syndrome has deeply affected communities in Lamwo and Kitgum districts, creating significant mental health burdens for caregivers. This proposal aims to secure funding to deliver mental health support services to affected households, complementing ERONetโs ongoing health and livelihood interventions. The volunteerโs contribution will play a crucial role in strengthening ERONet's capacity to secure funding and deliver impactful mental health programs to a highly underserved population.
Task DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced volunteer to assist in drafting a comprehensive project proposal focused on addressing mental health challenges among households caring for children with Nodding Disease in Northern Uganda. The volunteer will: Collaborate with the ERONet team through virtual meetings or calls to understand the project objectives, target beneficiaries, and local context. Research and integrate evidence-based interventions for mental health support tailored to communities affected by Nodding Disease. Prepare a detailed, compelling, and grant-ready project proposal, aligning with donor guidelines Provide regular updates and draft reviews to ensure alignment with organizational goals. Finalize the proposal by the agreed deadline. The assignment is expected to last 4-6 weeks, with weekly status updates via email or virtual meetings. You will work closely with ERONet's Executive Director, Stephen Otim, and other team members.
