Work LocationRemote Expected duration5 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesAs the UN's leading environmental entity, UNEP, tackles environmental problems at global and regional level. Its mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental political consensus, keeping the global environment under review, and informing governments and the international community of emerging issues for their action. The mid-term strategy (MTS) 2022-2025 highlights unsustainable consumption and production as the main drivers of climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution โ€“ the three planetary crises. To combat these interconnected issues, advocacy for a holistic approach that promotes a shift towards a resource-efficient and circular economy is needed. This consultancy will support the Consumer Information Programme under the One Planet Network, working under the supervision of the Associate Programme Officer. Its role is to produce high-quality visual materials that effectively communicate results and outcomes in a clear and accessible way. The consultant will work on materials developed by the project โ€œGreening Supply and demand: Advancing Eco-Labels and Sustainable Public Procurement for climate and biodiversity protection (Eco-Advance)โ€, which aims to advance more sustainable patterns of consumption and production through employing the policy tools of ecolabelling (led by UNEP) and sustainable public procurement (led by GIZ). The project is financed by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV), through the International Climate Initiative. Qualifications/special skillsUniversity degree in graphic design, architecture, journalism, communication, or related field. - At least 5 years of proven professional experience in graphic design, publication layout, and development of visual communication materials. - Demonstrated portfolio of infographics, report layouts, and digital/print materials. - Experience working with visual identity guidelines and ensuring consistent application across multiple outputs. - Proficiency in InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, or equivalent design software. - Familiarity with accessible design principles and optimization for web formats. - Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, incorporating feedback, and meeting deadlines. - Experience working for international organizations, NGOs, or sustainability-related projects would be an asset.
