The Deputy Executive Director works under the direction of the Executive Director and collaborates closely with the members of the Executive Management Team and other staff. The Deputy Executive Director, as part of the Executive Management Team, will support the Executive Director in strategic leadership of the Agency and oversight, leadership and continuous quality improvement of the Technical Programme of CARPHA. The incumbent will be required to oversee the monitoring and evaluation of the performance of the Agency with reporting on the overall performance in a timely manner. The Deputy Executive Director will assume the lead role for the Enterprise Risk Management of the Technical Programmes by scanning the environment for risks and mitigating detected and forecasted risks in order to minimize the threat to the integrity of CARPHAโ€™s current and projected public health initiatives at national and regional levels. The Deputy Executive Director is expected to have knowledge and understanding of Public Health issues, strategies and trends at the national, regional and international/global levels. They are expected to practice Health Diplomacy and should be able to perform creditably in global health situations including treaty negotiations, while representing CARPHA in CARICOM regional and global situations pertaining to public health.
