IMEOโs mission is to provide the open, reliable, and actionable methane data needed to cut emissions at the speed and scale necessary to achieve the Paris Agreement goals. To do this, IMEO is harnessing a methane data revolution under way thanks to rapidly advancing technology and momentum for methane action. IMEO collects, integrates, and reconciles data from methane-detecting satellites, scientific measurement studies, rigorous industry reporting through the Oil and Gas Methane Partnership 2.0 (OGMP 2.0), and national emissions inventories. These initiatives are game-changers for climate action โ and as a core implementing partner of the Global Methane Pledge, IMEO is shaping the future of methane mitigation. IMEO is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Coordinating Editor to manage the end-to-end production of the 2025 edition of An Eye on Methane โ IMEOโs flagship institutional report. The report assesses global progress harnessing a methane data revolution to accelerate emissions reduction at a global scale. The Coordinating Editor will play a central role in overseeing the publicationโs development and supporting the production of accompanying communications materials that amplify its reach and impact. The selected individual will work under the guidance of IMEOโs Communications Manager and UNEP Climate Action Communications and Advocacy Pillar team in close coordination with IMEO programme teams. Production Coordination - Lead the planning, timeline development, and management of the overall publication process for the 2025 An Eye on methane report following UNEP Standard of Procedure for Publication. - Maintain a comprehensive production calendar, tracking deadlines for content submission, review cycles, editing phases, and design milestones. - Act as a liaison between IMEOโs programmatic and communications teams and UNEP Climate Action Comms and Advocacy Pillar team to ensure seamless coordination and timely delivery. - Organize and facilitate regular coordination meetings and proactively identify and troubleshoot production bottlenecks. Writing and Editing Support - Contribute to the overall report concept, structure, and editorial framing in collaboration with IMEOโs communications and technical teams. - Work closely with expert contributors to support the development of chapter outlines and content drafting. - Provide substantive editing and quality control of the report, ensuring clarity, consistency, and alignment with IMEOโs messaging and UNEPโs editorial standards. - Facilitate review cycles for report, including internal and external expert peer reviews, and integrate input. - Ensure proper citation and adherence to UNEPโs publications guidelines, as well as guidance on branding, tone, and voice. Development of Communications Assets - Liaise with graphic designer to ensure the report complies with UNEP Branding Guidelines. - Support brainstorming around the name of the report in close coordination with UNEP Climate Action Comms & Advocacy Pillar team and Communication Division Director. - Support the production of supporting materials such as the Executive Summary and script for the video content. - Ensure all assets are consistent in tone, style, and messaging with the main report and UNEP guidelines. - Collaborate with graphic designers, video editors, digital and communications teams across IMEO and UNEPโs Communications Division as needed. Launch and Dissemination Support - Support planning and development of a launch plan for the report detailing promotional and outreach efforts tied to the report release. - Support the organization of the technical media briefing and press conference. - Support execution of announcement plans including technical briefing for stakeholders. - Assist in developing speaker briefs, speaking points, and other supporting documents for spokespeople and presenters. - Coordinate logistics and content development in collaboration with relevant UNEP teams. - Support and track IMEO contributions to additional co-branded or partner-led reports. Qualifications/special skillsUndergraduate and/or Graduate degree in communications, media, or a related field. Seven to ten years of experience in communications, editing, report development, content strategy, and/or journalism, preferably related to climate, energy sector, or data-oriented communications. Impeccable writing and editing skills, with experience in roles translating complex topics into clear and concise messaging for diverse audiences. Proactive and attentive to detail with exceptional analytical and research skills. Demonstrated ability to deliver appealing and impactful content against tight deadlines. Demonstrated experience collaborating across workstreams and subject matter experts to generate content across mediums for specific audiences. All content meets UNEP editorial standards and requirements, is moved through appropriate review channels with sufficient time for thoughtful inputs.
