Your responsibilities

Do you have expertise in Java software development? Do you want to work with other software engineers, in a unique context, where you can further your expertise, whilst contributing to science? If so, we have the opportunity you are looking for.
Join our multi-disciplinary \"Configuration, Settings & Automation\" team and work at the heart of CERN, re-engineering the critical software used to develop and evolve industrial controls applications CERN-wide.

You will:
- Review the existing solution, then analyse and design a new-generation solution based on the most appropriate technologies;
- Engage in the whole development lifecycle, following a modern agile approach;
- Communicate with service end-users to better understand their needs and gather feedback;
- Interact regularly with other skilled and motivated software engineers to deliver quality results.

Your profile

Skills and/or knowledge

Experience in Java application development using Spring;Experience in working with relational databases (SQL); Experience in designing and evolving client-oriented APIs, ideally based on REST;Experience in applying software quality assurance techniques and practices with corresponding tools;Working with Spring Boot and JPA would be an asset; Working with CI/CD solutions to build, test and provision software to operations would be an asset;Front-end development (e.g. Angular, CSS, other Web technologies, Python GUIs) would be an asset.Fluent in English, the ability to work in French would be an advantage.

Eligibility criteria:

You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.You have a professional background in Computer Science (or a related field) and have either: a Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience;or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience.You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
